“Haha….”

On this sunny day with such beautiful weather, what on earth was this sudden bolt from the blue? Unlike the streets where peace was being savored, Officer Melburne, who worked at the District 17 Police Station in Peliche, was at his wit’s end over a case that had broken out of nowhere.

The staff at the police station, who had been busy with Peliche Central Branch business, also stopped what they were doing at this unprecedented incident. The people sitting across from Officer Melburne were today’s hot topic.

“So, Madam. This… bloody pulp. I mean, this gentleman is Viscount Serman.”

“Yes.”

“And you are saying that you are the one who turned Viscount Serman into this?”

Officer Melburne, who was hunched over writing down Asha’s statement, glanced behind her. There was an assistant of suspiciously massive proportions and two well-built escort knights, yet the one who committed the assault was this woman who looked so fragile she might blow away.

Officer Melburne corrected his wandering thoughts. She wasn’t just any woman—she was the ‘Countess of Bellstein.’ Forget an investigation—wouldn’t the natural course of action be to escort her back to her private residence immediately, unless he had lost his mind? Officer Melburne desperately wished for that, but the extraordinary noble lady remained adamant about personally stating the circumstances of the event.

What could a powerless officer like Melburne do? He could only flush with embarrassment inside the wretched police station. Since he had no idea how to handle such a case, the officer gave a troubled smile.

“Why did you do such a thing? A noble lady like yourself.”

Asha’s mouth, which had been flowing like a river regarding Viscount Serman’s atrocities, clamped shut for the first time. Well, even with ten mouths, she would have nothing to say, wouldn’t she? Of course, Viscount Serman had stolen her money and spouted nonsense about her husband, but that couldn’t be a justifiable reason for beating him so mercilessly.

As Asha hung her head and exercised her right to remain silent, Officer Melburne looked around for no reason. He did it to relieve his stifled heart, but his eyes met with Viscount Serman, who was a bloody mess in the corner of the holding cell.

Those dark blue bruises on his cheeks and those swollen eyes. For something done by a noble lady, she had beaten him quite skillfully.

At the sight that made his chest feel tight just looking at it, Officer Melburne quietly lowered his head. He even squeezed his eyes shut in frustration. His colleagues, who had dumped the work on him, were standing far away as if watching a fire across the river, and the once-cooperative noble lady had started feigning ignorance. The Count would surely arrive soon to pick up his wife—what would he say to the officer who had taken her into custody?

In a future that seemed bleak no matter how much he thought about it, Officer Melburne exhaled his sorrows like a sigh.

“…Next time, do not do something so dangerous as hitting someone directly—please make sure to ask the Count. Isn’t Count Bellstein also excellent at swordsmanship?”

“Ye—s?”

Asha, who had been nodding her head like a pitiful puppy, looked up. Listening to him, she wondered what on earth he was talking about.

“He is?”

He’s… a businessman, though? One who would fly away if you puffed at him.

Objectively, Harriet wasn’t of a size to fly away if puffed at, but for Asha, who classified him as a ‘typical businessman,’ she couldn’t imagine him using his body. She would rather believe he’d hire a lawyer to file dozens of lawsuits.

Despite Asha’s tilted head, Officer Melburne continued indifferently while looking through the documents. Since it was a perfectly obvious truth to him, his attitude was rather impassive.

“Wasn’t he a promising talent in swordsmanship? Even ten years ago, it was a fairly famous story in the South.”

“Swordsmanship? Harriet Bellstein?”

“Ah, you didn’t know?”

As Asha’s barrage of questions continued, Officer Melburne asked back as if it were strange. His voice contained the surprise of how she could not have known until now.

At that reaction, Asha became aggrieved in her own way. Ten years ago? Given the distance between the South and the North, how could Asha possibly have known the rumors circulating in the South? Besides, Harriet hadn’t even attended the Academy—which could be called a mandatory course—so it wasn’t an exaggeration to say they had no point of contact in their lives until marriage.

Of course, it was largely Asha’s fault for the situation becoming this serious, as she had only been interested in the data investigating his dating experience.

When Asha showed surprise, Officer Melburne’s complexion brightened. He was already destined to be chewed out by the Count for the sin of bringing in the noble lady—shouldn’t he at least earn some points with her?
