Chapter 259
“Wow! This place is nice!”
Macy and Anna stepped into the two-story short-term rental that Dia had found.
Dia had looked worried, saying the condition wasn’t great, so Macy was a bit concerned. But there were three rooms, and although it was old and cramped, it seemed enough space for three women and a baby to stay for a while.
“If I add some money, we could probably find a better place.”
“No, Dia is here because of me, so I shouldn’t let you spend any money.”
Currently, their living expenses and overall costs were covered by the money Macy had saved from selling paintings and Anna’s salary.
Macy didn’t want to rely on others anymore. She also planned to repay Anna someday—not necessarily with money but in some other way—for all her care.
“It’s great to be back in Obelit! It’s still as lively as ever!”
Anna looked out the window and said, noticing the busy marketplace nearby. Since it wasn’t a remote area, there was no worry about danger with just women living here.
“Let’s unpack first. Then I’ll cook something delicious. Today, I’m treating you both.”
Macy smiled brightly and headed to the kitchen.

Rubens was deep in thought. He had been stubbornly refused, only to lose the chance to do Name treatment while Macy stayed in the capital.
“That’s enough now. Let’s just wait until three months later.”
“What?”
“I planned to do that after the trial anyway. There’s no need to see each other so often now. You should leave.”
He never expected her to be so cold. He was only worried about Macy…
Every day, her face haunted his mind. Though she now only showed him a sour expression, he still longed to see her.
Even just seeing Adrian, who looked like Macy, used to cheer him up, but now he couldn’t even see the baby freely.
Thinking that he couldn’t see either of them, his motivation disappeared.
Alone in the gloomy Bayatten mansion, he felt sad and depressed, wondering what he was doing with his life.
“Is there a decent excuse?”
“Huh?”
Rubens, who had gotten up early but spent a long time sitting on the bed staring at the ceiling, suddenly asked Kronen.
“A good reason to visit Macy’s house.”
“…?”
“A reason to go without revealing that I still have feelings for her.”
“…?”
When did they start discussing their lord’s love life? Kronen felt a moment of disbelief but earnestly racked his brain with Rubens.
“How about going to return something you forgot?”
“Like what?”
“Maybe a toy the child used or a button Macy lost…”
“I wouldn’t have those things.”
“Then how about delivering some trial-related documents?”
“That sounds plausible. Hmm…”
Eren, who usually went blank thinking about anything related to Macy, nodded slowly.
Then suddenly jumped up from his seat.
“Call Attorney Frederick. If there aren’t any documents to deliver to Macy, have him make some and bring them.”
“Yes, understood.”
“And stop by Senew Street’s dessert shop on the way to Macy’s house.”
“Huh?”
“You know the place that sells the cakes Macy liked? If I bring her favorite dessert, she might smile for once.”
Would she really smile just because of that…?
Kronen doubted his lord’s choice but didn’t voice it.
When would Rubens ever bother to act this way for a woman? For the first time, he looked less like the cold, perfectionist lord and more like an ordinary man under pressure.
Though Kronen found this unfamiliar, he liked seeing this side of his lord better.
“What do women like? Should I bring flowers?”
“If you suddenly do something unusual, she’ll just get suspicious. Better to dress up. Macy seems sensitive to appearances.”
“Right, that’s a good idea.”

“Wow! This apple pie is so delicious!”
Hils was amazed after tasting the apple pie Macy made.
“Good to hear. It was my first time making it.”
“Look at the decoration on top. You’re wasting your talent on pointless stuff.”
Kieran looked at the pie’s surface with a puzzled expression.
Finding the lattice pattern a bit plain, Macy had experimented with various designs, ending up with a decoration almost too intricate for a pie meant to be eaten.
“Ha ha, I didn’t plan for it to turn out like this…”
“Why not? If it’s pretty, it’s easier to eat! You’re always fussing over details like this.”
Behind Macy’s embarrassed smile, Anna scolded Kieran.
Since Hils’ shop and Kieran’s studio were near Macy’s place, they often gathered for meals.
Today, since it was the weekend, Hils even brought some wine. The warm buzz was pleasant.
“How’s the trial preparation going?”
“Good. I just have to do my part well.”
