Doing a painting demonstration wasn’t difficult for Macy. But her stiffness from not holding a brush for so long was a concern.
So, since coming here, Macy painted constantly to regain her feel.
As a result, she became quite comfortable and could paint almost as well as before.
“Things seem to be going really well. So when this is over, you both will move to Laden?”
“Not sure. Anna will probably go, but I haven’t decided yet.”
“What? Macy, you have to come too! I’m not sure either!”
Anna said shyly.
“But why are you so sure Anna’s going to Laden? And where are you going now?”
They chatted leisurely until the sun set.
Anna, moving busily during the conversation, was already ready to leave.
Hils eyed Anna’s slightly made-up red lips suspiciously.
“I have plans today.”
“With whom?”
“Not telling!”
Macy laughed quietly at Anna’s coyness. Though she kept it from others, Macy knew who Anna was meeting.
He was a man who had a subtle relationship with Anna when she worked at Baron Shearton’s estate delivering groceries.
They’d bumped into each other on the street, and he had asked Anna out on a date. That’s why Macy teased Anna that she would stay in Laden.
“I should head in too. I’m sleepy.”
Kieran, nodding off across from them, got ready to leave with Anna.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“I still have some wine left.”
Before leaving, Kieran asked Hils, who rolled his eyes and gestured to his glass. Anna narrowed her eyes and whispered a warning.
“Dia’s coming soon, so don’t do anything weird to Macy, got it?”
“Weird? Don’t talk nonsense and just come home nicely! Geez, I think you’re gonna meet some freak again.”
“No! He’s a good guy!”
“Uh-huh. Have a good time.”
“He really is a good guy!”
Hils gently pushed excited Anna out. When the door closed, the noisy chatter faded away.
“Phew. Finally some peace.”
Hils returned to the table and sat down. Macy took a sip from her glass of red wine. It wasn’t bad to have such a quiet drinking session after a long time.
“Actually, there’s something I want to ask you…”
“What is it?”
Did that mean he sent the others off early on purpose? Hils seemed hesitant, then cautiously spoke.
“What are you going to do about Duke Krygen?”
“What do you mean?”
Macy thought he was about to ask something serious but was surprised by the sudden topic.
She felt a little flustered, and because the question was so vague, she asked again.
“You’re doing Name treatment again and he’s Adrian’s father, so I wondered if you were thinking of making things work with the Duke again…”
“Ah…”
“As a friend! I’m asking because I’m worried as your friend. He wasn’t a very good man before, right?”
Strictly speaking, he wasn’t just “not good”, but the worst. Macy still suffered nightmares from being confined in Bayatten mansion…
She rolled her wine glass silently and said in a somewhat dry voice,
“I’m going to live like this. Just doing Name treatment and treating him like a stranger.”
Even if Eren had feelings for Macy, it didn’t matter anymore. Even if those feelings remained, she wouldn’t accept him.

He was in a frustrating position where he couldn’t even apologize properly to do Name treatment with Macy, and could only nod even if he didn’t like something.

“Yeah. This is the best for us. He knows it too.”
If this was the only way to face each other, then it was the best they could do.

“On the way here, I saw Duke Krygen with some woman.”
“A woman?”
Hils explained why he suddenly brought it up.
