“You’re here,”

Said the senior-most detective, greeting Jeonghan.

Jeonghan gave a slight nod and turned his gaze toward the glass wall. Inside, a group of detectives was interrogating Seol Hee-nam, with Ma Taewoo also present.

Despite being shown photos from the scene of Oh kyung-hee’s accident, Seol Hee-nam refused to admit to anything.

“So you’re still not going to confess, even after seeing this?”

“Where’s the proof I did it? What do you expect me to do when a woman says she’s going to jump to her death? It’s tragic, but it’s not my fault!”

The detective conducting the interrogation frowned and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Are you talking to me?”

“Yes, you,” Taewoo replied curtly.

“Calling me out so rudely. Aren’t you a detective too? What’s with the ‘hey’ and ‘you’? Show some respect.”

Ignoring the bait, Taewoo narrowed his eyes and spoke.

“You’re aware that witnesses can serve as evidence, right?”

“…Witness?”

Seol Hee-nam scoffed and looked at Taewoo with a crooked grin.

“Ha, if there’s a witness, bring them in. I’d love to see their face.”

Seol Hee-nam smirked, his mocking laughter filling the room. A witness? As if. The incident had happened nine years ago, and nothing had come up until now. Even with the issue involving Do Cheoljun, he was determined not to let his list of crimes grow any longer. Confidently brash, he leaned back in his chair, but Taewoo’s next words froze him in place.

“There’s someone who saw you push Oh kyung-hee.”

“You’re kidding me. Probably another puppet bought off with Cheonkyung’s money, huh?”

Outside the interrogation room, Jeonghan chuckled softly at Seol Hee-nam’s predictable response. He had anticipated exactly this defense.
