Chapter 113
Although it was quite annoying, Fay couldn’t bring herself to push him away more firmly. Just ten minutes earlier they had been engaged in rather intense activity in bed, so even though it was morning, her body felt pleasantly heavy and drowsy.
It was all because she had absentmindedly blurted something out while half-asleep, watching him sitting at the desk doing something.
“You’re really handsome.”
The sleepy comment had first made his eyes widen, then curve into a smiling gaze. He immediately abandoned what he had been doing, came over to the bed, and woke the not-fully-awake Fay in a far more vigorous way.
After being with him, she always felt especially sleepy. Fay yawned widely as her eyelids grew heavier.
“I should go to the castle and help Virelda…”
She thought of her friend, who had recently been struggling while trying to control her temper and listen to everyone’s opinions. It made Fay uneasy to lie around and drift back to sleep.
Virelda had never quite been able to follow Merga’s last request, that she live by accepting help from others. Too many people around her had criticized her.
“You’re too authoritarian. Do you think you’re the emperor of Aldehallow?”
“Lady Merga always listened to everyone.”
Virelda had never responded aloud, but the words had clearly wounded her deeply. Since things were difficult, Fay felt she should help until her friend adjusted to the role of protector.
Fay forced her eyes open to resist the creeping drowsiness. As if responding to her determination, thick s***n slowly trickled down her legs.
Three weeks had passed since she and Alnazir had miraculously reconciled. Every day he obsessively explored her body and finished inside her.
“Don’t fall asleep yet. I haven’t finished today.”
Sometimes he even acted as if it were something absolutely essential not to miss.
At this point, she was starting to suspect he might be trying to get her pregnant.
A child with tentacles… Since she had become so physically familiar with his tentacles, the sense of resistance had faded a lot. She vaguely imagined the child might look human, like Alnazir.
The real problem was whether she could carry such a child and give birth safely without dying. Even Alnazir had said that surviving childbirth would be difficult, which made it even more frightening.
He wouldn’t just let her die, of course—but just in case, Fay still took contraceptive pills. Whether they would even work on someone like him, who wasn’t human, she had no idea. It might all be pointless.
Still, she needed the reassurance of doing something.
“Lord Al, could you bring me the vitamins I always take from the shelf?”
Hearing the word “vitamins,” Alnazir got up without suspicion and fetched the bottle. Since he had seen her take them often, he picked the correct one from among many bottles without hesitation.
When Fay took the bottle, she noticed something else had come with it.
“What’s this?”
“Your gift.”
A folded white garment—thick enough to be clothing—was placed neatly on top. A surprise gift. Instead of feeling happy, she immediately frowned.
“Tell me the truth! You did something wrong again, didn’t you?”
Since he often gave her gifts to smooth over his mistakes, her suspicion was understandable.
Alnazir tilted his head in confusion at her lack of excitement and shook it.
“I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Then why a gift?”
“It’s a birthday present. The young witch told me cake and presents are supposed to come as a set on birthdays.”
How were those two even getting along when they could barely communicate properly? Fay lowered her guard, thinking the situation oddly amusing.
“But my birthday already passed.”
“Yes. But I didn’t manage to give you a present then.”
Alnazir took her hand and pulled her gently to her feet. As she stood after lying down, the s***n pooled in her lower belly slid out again.
For some reason, it almost felt as if he were still inside her, as though he had just finished.
“Did I pull you up too quickly?”
Seeing her tremble slightly, Alnazir asked.
Fay quickly hid her embarrassment and opened the gift to distract herself.
“A cloak!”
Of all the gifts he had ever voluntarily given her, this was the most normal and genuinely gift-like. But it raised another question—how had he even gotten something like this?
“Where did you get it?”
There was no way he had simply bought it from a shop—he had no money. Most likely he had taken it from somewhere.
Did he steal it from the emperor again…?
The fabric looked expensive enough that it could really have belonged to the emperor.
But could she even wear the emperor’s cloak? It felt a bit uncomfortable, though as a war trophy it might have some value.
“I made it.”
Just as her thoughts began spiraling, Alnazir gave an unexpected answer. She had never imagined he possessed the skill to make clothing.
“When did you even do that?”
Surprised by the handmade gift, Fay inspected the cloak again. She had expected to find awkward stitching up close, but the sewing was remarkably neat.
Still, as she kept looking at it, the cloak stirred a strange memory.
A certain man who had once managed to cover only his lower half… The image slowly began creeping back into her mind.
