“Isn’t this the cloth you were wearing when we first met?”

“That’s right.”

“No wonder it felt familiar!”

Delighted, Fay tried on the cloak. It was a bit large on her, but still wearable. The fabric was also very sturdy.

The only drawback was that it was white. Since she flew around on her broom so often, it would probably get dirty quickly. It was a precious item, and it would be upsetting if it wore out too soon.

Still, it was a gift she had never expected. To be honest, she hadn’t thought he would give her a perfectly normal present, so now she felt embarrassed and a little guilty for doubting him.

“Thank you. I’ll treasure it and wear it on special occasions.”

After thanking him once more, Fay smiled happily and tried to remove the cloak so she could put it away safely.

But then a problem appeared.

The cloak wouldn’t come off.

When she tried to unfasten the clasp, it felt stuck as if glued in place. Surprised, she thought perhaps she could simply pull it off over her head since the neckline was loose.

Trying to stay calm despite her confusion, she lifted the cloak to pull it off—

But the fabric tightened around her body as if it were alive.

Fay suddenly felt a strange sense of déjà vu. It felt exactly like the sensation of being wrapped in his arms—or his tentacles.

“Lord Al… um…”

“Yes?”

There was a faint trace of amusement in his voice. Fay’s uneasiness grew.

“I might be imagining it, but… the cloak feels like it’s sticking to me.”

“It probably is.”

He replied calmly.

“I just said the cloak is sticking to me strangely, and you’re answering like you already knew that would happen!”

“It’s resisting because you’re trying to take it off. From now on, you’ll never be able to escape my embrace.”

Only now, after she had put the cloak on, did Alnazir reveal the possessiveness he had hidden. Startled, she glared at him, but in that instant he vanished from her sight.

“Where—?”

She looked around, only for him to suddenly appear behind her.

“With this, I’ll always know where you are. Even if you try to run away, I won’t have to worry.”

I can appear right behind you anytime and hold you. Alnazir whispered meaningfully into her ear. Fay’s mouth fell open.

“W-wait… what exactly is this thing?”

“A part of my body.”

“Which part of your body?!”

“One of the tentacles I no longer had much use for after taking a human form.”

He kissed the back of her neck, the corner of his lips curving slightly.

“So you made clothes out of a tentacle and put them on me so I can’t take them off—and now you’re planning to keep watch over me?!”

“When did I say I’d watch you?”

“You said you’d be relieved even if I tried to run away!”

Alnazir ignored that remark and pulled her tightly into his arms along with the cloak. He had expected a little resistance, but he hadn’t imagined she would protest so strongly.

Take it off right now! Don’t ignore what I’m saying! Unfortunately, this was something he couldn’t back down on.

When Fay had once vanished before his eyes and he realized he couldn’t pursue her even with his abilities, the shock had felt like the ground collapsing beneath his feet. That shock had turned into trauma, and even after they reconciled, it still made him uneasy.

He needed a safeguard—something just in case. And so he chose clothing that could never be removed. Now, even if she erased her presence and tried to run, he could appear right behind her immediately.

At last, he could relax.

“I knew it. I knew you wouldn’t give me a normal gift!”

Fay kept fuming and struggling, which made things less pleasant than they could have been.

“I don’t understand why you hate it so much. Were you planning to run away from me?”

Alnazir asked her with displeasure at her resistance.

The cloak he had given her wasn’t meant to hurt or harm her. Yet she kept insisting on taking it off. That made him suspect she might truly be planning to escape.

“If you’re having such thoughts, I’ll remove them right now.”

Remove them… how?

Fay shivered at the strange glint entering his eyes. She had a feeling that rejecting the cloak any further would only provoke an even stronger obsession.

“I-I’m not trying to run away! Th-that’s not it! Right—what about when I take a bath?”

You can’t expect me to get such a precious cloak soaked! And I can’t just wear wet clothes all the time!

She had to wash anyway after what they had done the previous night. Using that as an excuse, Fay stretched out her arms.

Apparently he hadn’t considered the cloak getting wet during bathing. Alnazir looked reluctant, but in the end he obediently removed it for her.

“I almost ended up trapped forever.”

Inside the bathroom, Fay let out a sigh of relief as she washed herself.

She stayed in the warm water a little longer, thoroughly cleaning every part of her body before drying off with a towel.

But when she looked around, the clothes she had brought to change into were nowhere to be seen.

They couldn’t have simply grown legs and walked away.

Which meant the culprit was obvious.
