“Lord Al, where did my clothes go?”

When she called through the bathroom door, he opened it almost immediately. In his hands was the same cloak from earlier. Before Fay could realize what he was doing and run away, he slipped the cloak over her shoulders.

As he draped it on her, the towel wrapped around her body dropped to the floor with a soft thud. Fay stared at him in disbelief.

“Are you seriously planning to make me wear this cloak for the rest of my life?”

“Yes.”

“You don’t trust me?”

“I trust you. I’m just uneasy.”

“That’s the same thing as not trusting me!”

Fay reached out and demanded he stop joking around and take it off again. In response, Alnazir crossed his arms and retreated from her.

“Hurry up and take it off.”

“No.”

“Lord Al!”

“If you’re unhappy, complain to yourself—the one who knows strange magic.”

He sounded completely firm. Turning his back, he wandered around the house while Fay tried tugging and shaking him, but he refused to budge.

“If you take it off, I’ll let you do whatever you want.”

“…What exactly would I be allowed to do?”

“Anything. You can do whatever you imagine—anything you want in bed!”

“Can I hold you down with my tentacles? Use both holes?”

“Uh… y-yes, go ahead!”

After hesitating, Fay nodded.

“And if I want to put it in your mouth too?”

Just imagining it made the situation seem a little frightening. After a pause, Fay nodded again anyway.

Apparently tempted, Alnazir slowly rolled his eyes as he considered it seriously. After making up his mind, he smiled faintly and brushed her cheek with his finger.

“But Fay, those are all things I already do now.”

“What do you mean? You’ve never used my mouth before!”

“Then I’ll try that tonight.”

“Why are you acting like that’s guaranteed? If you don’t take off this cloak, you can’t do anything. I won’t let you!”

Realizing too late that she had said the wrong thing, Fay clung to his arm. Not only could she not remove the cloak, but she had also just given him new ideas to torment her with.

“Lord Al!”

“Even if you give me ten kisses, the answer is still no.”

“Then twenty!”

“Is that the limit of a witch’s bargaining power?”

“How many do you want then? My lips will swell up!”

Snorting, Alnazir opened the door. He had already sensed that a familiar human had been standing outside for a while.

“Come in, little witch.”

Since Fay was weak when it came to the young witch, this was a perfect distraction.

The two had been arguing loudly enough to be heard outside, so Zynie had been hesitating about whether to knock. Now she opened her mouth awkwardly.

“Can I come in?”

“Y-yeah…!”

Fay couldn’t bring herself to say that this was a bad time and ask her to wait. Instead, she hurriedly pulled the cloak tight around herself and let Zynie enter.

Now she definitely wouldn’t be able to take the cloak off.

Satisfied that things had gone exactly as planned, Alnazir smiled in contentment and patted Zynie’s head as if praising her.

Zynie sat down at the table, fidgeting for a moment before finally explaining why she had come.

“You know Virelda isn’t very good at saying kind things.”

Fay tried to comfort her the way she usually did. But she was too preoccupied with what was happening under the cloak to focus.

Zynie noticed immediately. She had come because she was upset about Virelda, but now her disappointment slowly shifted toward Fay instead.

Eventually, before the conversation even finished, Fay stood up and slipped into the bathroom.

“Do you think I’m too childish too, mister?”

Left alone, Zynie pouted and asked Alnazir.

“I know that complaining about Virelda to Fay only puts her in a difficult spot. I know that… but I’m still upset, and I don’t really have anyone else to talk to…”

She squished her cheeks with both hands and let out a long sigh. Watching quietly, Alnazir slid something across the table toward her.

It was the notebook and pen they often used to communicate.

Usually Zynie was the one who brought them out first.

When everyone else treated her like a nuisance, having someone who actually wanted to talk to her felt like a comforting change.

Touched, Zynie picked up the pen and began writing in the notebook.

As usual, she did most of the writing. Alnazir simply read what she wrote and nodded occasionally.

Still, that was enough. Especially when he strongly agreed with her complaint that Fay always took Virelda’s side and relied on her too much.

At least to Zynie, it felt like he was on her side.

“Lately, I feel like I get along with you better than with Fay.”

For some reason, when someone felt like they were on your side, it made you want to share secrets with them.
