Unfortunately, her house had not survived the war unscathed.

“Looks like there was a thief. Quite a lot is missing.”

Alnazir blurted casually as he stepped inside.

Fay said nothing. She stood there in a daze, staring at the wreckage of her home.

The moment she saw the broken door while dismounting from her broom, she had known it would be bad. But the reality was worse than she’d imagined.

Not only were her bedding and blankets gone, but it would be faster to count what little remained. Even those few things had been smashed in haste—bowls and bottles shattered across the floor.

“At least the place where you sleep is intact.”

How is that supposed to help? She didn’t know if he meant to comfort her, but her chest burned with frustration. Anger and emptiness weighed her down as he approached.

“You don’t look well. Shall I cheer you up?”

Without waiting for her reply, he pushed her back onto the bed—now stripped down to a bare mattress—and leaned over her, lifting one of her legs as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

The sudden exposure of such a vulnerable place sent a chill through her, and she instinctively curled inward.

Perhaps amused by her tense expression, Alnazir smiled faintly. He guided himself against her, pressing insistently, rubbing back and forth with deliberate strokes.

When Fay turned her head away, refusing to look, a tentacle slid into view. It caught her chin and turned her face back down, forcing her to watch what he was doing.

She wanted to shut her eyes, but she didn’t dare. If she did, she felt certain he would pry them open just to make her see.

“Fay.”

His voice was low with excitement as he breathed her name against her skin, his hand stroking her leg.

It didn’t feel very good. Her body responded reflexively as it grew wet but something inside her felt blocked, constrained.

“Uuht…!”

Even after he entered her, the suffocating feeling remained. His voice was gentle as he called her name, yet she was afraid of him.

What he had broken was not only their contract. She had believed that the contract meant he would never harm her. That belief had cracked as well.

So even when he rubbed against the same sensitive places as before, it felt different. Her body reacted, but her heart did not race with true desire anymore.

“Relax a little.”

Alnazir assumed her lack of response was simply because it was difficult to accept him. In a soft voice, he coaxed her, pressing her resisting hand down against the mattress.

Fay twisted, trying to pull away, but soon gave up. Resisting would only exhaust her. In the end, things would go the way he wanted—whether it was the contract or s*x.

When her body finally loosened in resignation, he did not miss the opportunity and pushed in fully at once.

“Hu-ugh!”

To distract herself from the current running down her spine, Fay forced her thoughts elsewhere. What would become of the city? Would Virelda be able to negotiate properly using the Emperor’s head?

As her thoughts turned serious, her body tightened again, a faint crease forming between her brows.

Alnazir quickly noticed her mind wasn’t with him.

“Fay. Focus. Look at me.”

As if punishing her, he thrust sharply. She startled and turned her head toward him. His eyes were half-lidded as he tightened his grip on her hand.

Something wriggled in her palm.

A tentacle.

She flinched, recognizing it. Her body stiffened instantly. He leaned down, lips brushing past her cheek as he whispered into her ear,

“Shall I put this in as well?”

Fay shook her head quickly.

“Why? You know it wouldn’t hurt.”

“It’s not about pain…”

“Then what is it?”

Smiling, he pressed light kisses at the corner of her mouth. It was playful pecks, not deep kisses this time.
