Chapter 85
Unlike Fay, whose body refused to release its tension, he was thoroughly enjoying himself.
“You liked it before.”
She didn’t know what to say. Fay’s lips moved silently. She didn’t want to admit it, but honestly, the tentacles had felt good.
What if she’d been opened up to a whole new world and could no longer be satisfied with just one hole being filled? It had genuinely worried her back then. But that was when she still trusted him.
Now, separate from the physical pleasure she’d felt before, something strange repelled her. She didn’t want tentacles inside her. More than that—she couldn’t understand this pretense of being lovers, skin pressed together like this. She hated how he acted as if nothing had happened. It frightened her.
Would time soften her heart? Would she stop fearing him and learn to trust him again?
Fay let her head loll to the side, thinking. She didn’t know what the future held. But right now, forgiveness, love, and words like ‘put it in’ were simply beyond her.
“Shy?”
Now, of all times.
Alnazir chuckled softly, his hand brushing her cheek. Tender, yet somehow inhuman. Outwardly, he was the perfect picture of a man, but inside, it felt like he understood nothing of the delicate human heart…
“That’s not it.”
Even the kiss he pressed to Fay’s furrowed brow felt less like genuine tenderness and more like performance. As if he was trying to lower her guard so he could strike again.
“…I’m worried about whether the negotiations will go well.”
Fay tucked away the heaviest burden in her heart and offered a different concern instead. She was too afraid of what might happen if she admitted she could no longer trust him.
Aldehallow was at a critical juncture including the negotiations. Setting aside hopes for his help, Fay had a duty to control him, to ensure he didn’t cause trouble.
No matter how much she feared him, he was still her invoked, soon to be her familiar.
“If the negotiations go badly…”
“You worry too much.”
Alnazir pressed his lips firmly to her forehead, like stamping a seal.
“If your enemies refuse to back down, I’ll show you again what I can do.”
“What you can do…?”
“If anyone refuses to negotiate, just tell me who. I’ll bring you their head.”
He spoke such casually brutal words with the sweetness of a love confession. Like swearing an oath, he kissed the back of her hand, holding her gaze steadily.
“Tell me, Fay. Whose head shall I gift you next?”
Alnazir’s eyes turned into a smile. Not long ago, that mysterious smile—so difficult to read—had made her heart race. Now, Fay could only wonder what darkness lurked behind it, and the weight in her chest grew heavier.
“The head… is enough.”
For now.
She hated herself for the timid addition, just in case. It made her feel like a social climber, trying to use him even while fearing him.
“Lord Alnazir—ngh!”
Before she could finish, his hips, which had withdrawn slightly, slammed back into her. The force made her inner walls throb, and Fay trembled. When she shot him a resentful glance, he just smiled infuriatingly again.
“Yes? I’m what?”
“Lord Alnazir… you immediately offer gifts to engage in… ‘reproductive-adjacent acts.'”
Finally catching her sarcastic tone, Alnazir tilted his head, studying her facial muscles and the downturn of her lips.
Her expression was definitely off. Not the melting, aroused face she usually made when he held her. He’d been too caught up in his own excitement to notice until now.
Unfortunately, even recognizing her expression, he couldn’t read the complex emotions behind it.
“Are you asking if this is all I can do for you?”
“Hnngh—ah—too deep—hah!”
“No. That’s not it, you foolish witch. You’re wrong.”
He moved his hips, burying his nose in her neck as he whispered. There was no fixed list of things he could or couldn’t do. He could probably do most things and he was willing to grant whatever Fay desired.
What he needed were Fay’s wishes.
“Tell me what you want, Fay. Then—haah—I’ll show you what I can do.”
Anything. I’ll give you anything.
