Chapter 72
“Go slowly. Don’t trip.”
Normally, misstepping wouldn’t mean imminent death. But this ground was special. The swamp would swallow any lifeform that let its guard down, suffocating all but those evolved to live safely here.
Sylvia nodded resolutely.
“I’ll be careful. You too.”
They trudged for half a day toward the setting sun until dusk fell, and Sylvia was near exhaustion. She couldn’t even pretend to watch over him properly, and merely catching her breath was exhausting.
Yet her husband appeared remarkably fit, seeming more lively in the swamp than when resting comfortably in the castle.
“Want to lie down?”
He removed his armor and patted his stomach. Sylvia was aghast—how could he strip down in a place teeming with hidden monsters? Yet he looked refreshed, as if enduring all this had been no burden.
“Really… why do you do this?”
“You’re going to call me crazy again, right? It’s tedious, really.”
He chided her as though her complaints were tiresome.
Sylvia shivered at how adept he was at finding safe ground to rest. He’d likely acquired this skill from frequent campaigns to the swamp, yet she couldn’t fully comprehend it.
Everything seemed suspicious. She wondered if his half-monster state was responsible.
“I’ll just sit and rest.”
“Stop being stubborn. Lie down—you look pale.”
Her face had gone from nearly white to a bluish tinge. Refusing to lie down, Sylvia was forcibly lifted onto his stomach by Lancart.
A brief struggle ensued. She was stubborn, unwilling to rest comfortably here. It was partly distrust, partly pride. Her small hands clutched at his ankles as if she refused the role of a helpless load.
“Don’t bother resisting.”
In under ten seconds, Lancart had fully subdued her and began removing her armor. She wore heavy armor that restricted movement, but beneath it, she only had leather covering her torso, back, and waist. She gasped in protest:
“Why are you taking it off!”
“Huh? Just to let you rest. We’ll reach our destination soon.”
There, he would simulate defeating Hector. He would be waiting in his true form, and Sylvia needed to witness the act clearly. As she would serve as a witness to the Crown Prince, it was crucial she be fully aware.
“The lair of the leader monster the Crown Prince mentioned is just ahead. You checked the map, right? It should be near the mountain ridge at sunset.”
Oddly in the western swamp, a small hill jutted. It was an otherwise flat terrain so it served as a reliable landmark even for monsters. Kuinan had played around this hill since he was a juvenile monster over three hundred years ago.
As they approached his domain, excitement spread across his face.
Ah… I want to mate.
Looking down at his woman who was unaware of his thoughts. She was reaching for her armor again. Her ample chest pressed against his as he held her.
She didn’t intend to tempt him. Kuinan knew that clearly. But should he resist his overwhelming desire out of consideration for her innocence?
The answer came in a split second. His monstrous hands gripped her butt firmly.
Startled, she stared up at him with wide eyes. Lancart licked his lips deliberately, signaling the beginning of s*x.
Almost simultaneously, Sylvia got up from his stomach.
With his long arm, he pinned her down and tugged at her undergarments. Her flushed red lips were swallowed by his pale ones.
Her scream was swallowed at the same time.
