Chapter 1.6
***
In my office, the gold coin pouches and wooden boxes that Aaron had hidden in the secret space had arrived.
Inside one wooden box were several sheets of paper filled with writing in Aaron’s handwriting.
I sat in my chair and began to read them meticulously.
They were all traces of Aaron’s schemes on how to make this mansion his own.
One sentence in particular caught my eye.
[Levi Heron can no longer delay her admission to the Academy. I must secretly submit the admission application and make her stay at the villa near the Academy, citing the long commute as the reason.]
The nobles of the Empire were required to enter the Academy as soon as they became adults and study for two years.
This was due to the will of the first Emperor, who believed it was necessary to possess at least a minimum level of knowledge and refinement, whether one became a palace official or managed a territory.
“Studying” was a generous term; since it targeted nobles, it was closer to social networking.
Anyway, since I had become an adult last year, I should have already been enrolled in the Academy by now.
However, I had been delaying my admission due to health reasons, but it had reached a point where further delay was impossible.
‘It doesn’t seem like Aaron submitted the application out of concern for my situation.’
His likely goal was to keep me away from the Heron family mansion.
Then, he probably intended to comfortably ruin the family’s finances.
But Aaron wouldn’t know.
That the actions he took to get rid of a bothersome niece and fill his own pockets actually became a huge help to me.
“Since it’s an Academy I have to go to anyway, it’s best to proceed with the admission process immediately.”
The Academy was also a place where I could communicate with people my age, making it an essential spot for me, as I had skipped all previous social gatherings due to my weak body.
Thanks to the excessive protection of the employees, my physical condition had improved enough that attending classes wouldn’t be an issue.
‘Most importantly, I have to enter the Academy as soon as possible to meet the main characters of the original.’
Thanks to Aaron’s meddling during the application period, I ended up not wasting any time.
“Are you really alright, Young Lady? Perhaps you should listen to the doctor’s opinion first…….”
The butler said, looking at me with worry.
As he said, my physical condition wasn’t great.
However, because I knew a fundamental way to strengthen this pathetic body, I could readily nod my head.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine. Instead, since I also have to handle my duties as the Acting Head, I’ll commute from the mansion by carriage. I’ll receive the reports every morning.”
The head butler replied with a moved face once again.
“The Master also always received morning reports. I will make preparations so that there is no inconvenience.”
“Thank you. Leave Aaron’s trial to the family lawyers, and explain the situation to the slums and orphanages that received low-quality donation items and provide them with new goods.”
“I will do so.”
“And make sure to bring up the fact that our uncle spent the embezzled money specifically targeting and messing around with married women during the trial.”
When I spoke, the head butler seemed somewhat surprised.
“……You knew even about that?”
Judging by the reaction, it seemed the vassals had also caught wind to some extent that Aaron was engaging in behavior that could be used against him.
Even in a situation where they had suspicion, they were likely looking for solid physical evidence since the Young Lady seemed to care for her uncle’s convenience.
But now, I had absolutely no intention of turning a blind eye to my uncle’s nuisances.
“He was kicked out by Grandfather for the same reason before. I figured Aaron wouldn’t have been able to fix his habits, so I investigated.”
In truth, it was content I had read in the book, but I glossed over it appropriately.
Since the evidence of embezzlement was so clear, he would rot in prison for a long time.
If the story came out that someone who wasn’t even a noble after being kicked out by the family head was messing around with three or four married women at the same time with embezzled money, a trip to a monastery was a certainty.
“Could you exert some influence to ensure that the judges and lawyers sponsored by our family handle the trial?”
“Understood, Young Lady. Since he has a prior record, he won’t be able to escape that place even if his breath stops.”
May you spend your life self-sufficiently in a monastery, purifying that slutty body of yours that touched married women.
It was a surprise gift for the uncle who saved me from wasting my time.
