Chapter 1.7

“Then, please have a safe trip, Young Lady.”
About two weeks after kicking out Aaron.
Having completed all preparations, I climbed into the carriage to attend the Academy entrance ceremony.
Seeing the butlers and employees all standing in a line to see me off made my heart feel ticklish yet warm.
However, such leisurely sentiments only lasted until I passed through the main gate of the mansion.
‘Is it the real deal now?’
Thinking that I was on my way to the Academy where the protagonists and the villain were gathered, my brain suddenly started spinning.
As the destination drew near, I was able to clearly organize the things I had to do during my Academy life.
‘Number one, the most important. Be wary of Demian, the First Prince and the final villain of the story.’
Just as I was stepping out of the carriage while chewing over that ironclad rule, a carriage engraved with the Imperial crest stopped in front of me.
‘If it’s an Imperial carriage, could it be…….’
I slowly rolled my eyes.
If the Second Prince, Frid, was in the carriage, I would naturally be able to see the protagonist’s glorious face.
Caw—
However, as soon as I stepped on the ground, the sound of a crow crying was heard. It was an ominous sign.
At the same time, what was reflected in the carriage window wasn’t the flamboyant blonde hair of the male lead, but black hair as dark as a shadow.
“Your Highness Demian. We have arrived.”
The Imperial coachman announced politely.
Upon hearing the name of the villain I had sworn to be careful of ever since I realized the possession, my entire body stiffened with tension.
Demian Yvelun.
The First Prince born of the Empress, who was a great beauty but passed away at a young age.
Inheriting that beauty, Demian was also a typical handsome man with black hair and red eyes, but he had a shadow that others didn’t know about.
It was that watching with his own two eyes his mother wither away day by day inside the palace after becoming an Empress against her will simply because she caught the Emperor’s eye had remained as a significant trauma.
Since the daughter of a fallen family near the border had ascended to the position of Empress, how much must the high nobles of the capital have pestered her?
The Empress, who only knew how to tend to a peaceful rural estate and serve nature and God, withered to death like that.
It was a story from when Demian wasn’t even five years old.
Because he grew up watching his mother like that, he began to obsess over the power that would keep his own life safe—namely, the position of Crown Prince.
‘In the end, he goes as far as starting a rebellion to obtain it, so that says it all.’
I had run into the person I most wanted to avoid, but as long as etiquette existed, I couldn’t just scurry away as soon as I saw the Imperial carriage.
Especially since I was a member of Heron, who claimed to be the loyal knights of the Imperial family for generations.
I watched Demian get off the carriage while maintaining my manners.
His slightly curly black hair swayed in the wind. His red eyes were clear without a hint of lethargy.
Demian gave off the impression of a spark that remained alive without being extinguished amidst charred ruins.
From his firmly shut mouth, one could even feel the determination not to bend his goals.
It was a beauty that made one forget for a moment the information that this man was a villain who would start a rebellion.
‘I can understand why some Young Ladies asked about marriage through their fathers.’
If Demian himself hadn’t decided not to associate with any woman until the Crown Prince competition was over because he didn’t want to suffer from unnecessary scandals, he would have been married by now.
But looks are just looks.
The shell was beautiful enough to make one forget to breathe, but Demian’s actual personality was trash.
As if to confirm that the information I recalled was true, a prickly voice was heard.
“Are you the Young Lady of the House of Heron?”
Was it because there was no one around? There was a strange hostility laced in Demian’s voice as he called out to me.
“Forgive my late greeting, Your Highness. I am Levi Heron.”
However, Demian let out a smirk as if it were interesting.
“Is it not that your greeting was delayed because the one who got off the carriage wasn’t the Second Prince you were expecting?”
To be honest, I was thinking about what if I ran into Frid, so it wasn’t a completely wrong statement.
Demian was also quite well-versed in martial arts. Since he had sharp eyes, he likely captured the disappointment I momentarily revealed upon realizing it was the villain after expecting the male lead.
Moreover, there was an incident that added a reasonable basis to his thinking.
‘Levi Heron had a history of collapsing after stealing a glance at Frid’s face at the Imperial ball.’
Even without that, Levi, who only barely attended Imperial events once every few years due to her weak body, avoided going out even more after that day, using her health as an excuse.
