Chapter 2.22

“Lord Frid. We have searched every corner of the Academy again as you ordered.”
Lance, the Vice Commander of the Holy Knight Order, reported while bowing his head politely.
Then the commander, Frid, responded in a calm voice.
“Everyone did well. You’ve worked hard, so you may go and rest.”
“Let’s go together, Commander. You haven’t been able to rest properly for three days, from the moment the demons appeared at the Academy until now.”
“I will look around the Academy one last time before returning, so you go ahead.”
The voice saying he would check the surroundings once more even while being advised to rest was gentle yet firm.
Lance felt a sense of respect at the sight of Frid, who always looked after others before his own fatigue.
Frid Yvelun could have been the most arrogant person in the Empire.
His father was the Emperor, and his mother was the eldest daughter of the most prestigious ducal family in the current Empire.
In addition to that, having been born with an immense amount of Holy Power, the people praised Frid as the heir personally sent by the Goddess to the Yvelun Empire.
Despite this, instead of becoming conceited and straying, Frid had lived a life of service using his Holy Power while maintaining a humble attitude.
‘With such a noble character and even such outstanding looks, it’s no wonder his popularity is sky-high.’
His brilliant blonde hair and mysterious emerald eyes were enough to capture people’s attention.
From the first time Lance saw Frid, he was certain he would win the Crown Prince competition.
Prince Demian, who had grown enough to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Frid without any backing in the capital where people became infinitely cruel over power, was also a great person, but he had innate limitations.
‘Even if he is an overwhelmingly skilled magic swordsman who has honed his mana to the limit, Holy Power is supreme in the Yvelun Empire.’
Frid Yvelun was a person sculpted only from Holy Power and nobility as his materials.
It would be a blessing to all the people for the 2nd Prince, who distanced himself from the lowly and was wary of the wicked, to become the Emperor after passing through the position of Crown Prince.
Around the time Lance and the Holy Knights praised their lord inwardly and reaffirmed their loyalty once more, Frid spoke.
“Ah, the damaged campus dormitory was repaired successfully, right?”
“Yes, Commander. Thanks to Lady Levi inviting Lady Ryner to the Heron mansion, the dormitory was empty, which allowed us to speed up the repairs.”
“Thanks to Lady Heron’s right judgment, the cleanup was quick.”
Because the suspicious movements of demons were captured starting about a week before the Academy’s entrance ceremony, Frid had never personally exchanged greetings with her, but he had heard a lot about Levi.
At first, he was a little surprised at the news that she, who was so sickly she couldn’t engage in social activities, had decided to enter the Academy.
Thinking that even if she was born sickly, she was trying her best as the heir of the Heron, he felt a desire to cheer her on.
The next thing he heard about her was when he encountered rumors about Ayla Ryner through his aide.
“Commander, among this year’s freshmen, there is a lady who ended up using the campus dormitory, which even merchants avoid, due to personal circumstances.”
“For what reason? Find out if there is anything we can do to help.”
“It seems there is a problem with the inheritance, but I don’t think you need to worry too much. Lady Heron is already taking care of Lady Ryner.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. I also found out about Miss Ayla’s circumstances while looking into which faction the silver-haired lady hanging around the Heron heir belonged to.”
When he heard the news that Levi Heron had looked after a freshman he hadn’t been able to care for because he was busy with Holy Knight Order duties, Frid somehow became interested in her.
‘Even if she hears that she’s the family’s defective product, she’s still nominally the heir of the Heron family, so she might have been reluctant to approach someone with a poor reputation first.’
Yet Levi not only walked around with Ayla, she even sincerely worried about her and invited her to the mansion.
Thanks to that, the lady of the Ryner family avoided disaster, so the Holy Knight Order owed a debt to Levi as well.
Since no one had expected that a few small-fry demons would hide near the dormitory and destroy the building.
