***

While Levi was concluding a secret contract with Demian at the tea house.

Frid and the Holy Knights were investigating Luge Ryner, who had suddenly appeared at the Academy and brandished a weapon.

“So, the reason you attacked the Heron carriage was because House Heron helped Lady Ryner file a lawsuit.”

Frid’s green eyes, which usually shone warmly, were cooler than ever.

Knowing well how cold-blooded he could be when judging evil, the Holy Knights simply maintained a stiff silence.

Overwhelmed by that aura, Luge, who had been acting like a wild animal just moments ago, looked down and submissively complied.

“Th-That’s right……. Please, have mercy…….”

“Mercy is something sought only when good people make mistakes.”

Thwack—

Frid forcibly lifted Luge’s chin with the hilt of his sword.

The man before him was a villain who had lived a life of luxury by cowardly stealing from others.

In contrast, Levi Heron, despite being too physically weak to even solidify her own position, had looked after the lady of the dormitory who was being ignored.

Frid, who considered it his mission to spread goodness more widely than evil in the world, easily came to a conclusion.

He would have to add the crime of attempting to kill a righteous person to Luge Ryner’s charges.

“A human who tries to backstab his own niece, and then tries to kill a bystander when things go wrong, has no value in being forgiven.”

“……!”

It was just as Luge turned pale and trembled, unable to speak.

“Commander. Lady Heron has arrived. She says she has something to tell you.”

At the adjutant’s report, Frid’s coldness softened considerably.

“Guide her inside.”

“Yes, Commander.”

Frid scanned Luge, who was tied to a chair, and Ayla, who was sitting quietly in the chair next to him, before stepping out for a moment.

Ayla, who had been called as a witness and was watching the series of events, swallowed hard.

‘He’s someone known for being kind to the public, but he’s not just a soft person.’

Frid Yvelun had a clear goal of making the world a better place with the holy power bestowed upon him by the Goddess.

As they say, those with original goals and beliefs can be the most cruel.

‘Levi got attacked because of me, and now she even has to say something difficult to Lord Frid.’

Ayla felt ashamed of her own helplessness and hoped that Frid would at least be kind to Levi.

Contrary to her concerns, as soon as Frid left the space being used as an interrogation room, he greeted Levi with his original kind and refreshing attitude.

“Did you have a good talk with Brother Demian, Lady Heron?”

Frid had no intention of asking what kind of conversation the two had shared during that short time.

Of course, he hadn’t forgotten the advice his mother and his uncle Gillian—who were prone to many personal worries—had given him.

“Frid. Recently, ‘Heron’s Defective Product’ has been frequently spotted talking with Demian.”

“Be careful, Lord Frid, as we don’t know what they might be plotting.”

‘Those two are always so excessive when it comes to information related to my brother.’

Weren’t they the same two people who, last year, worried that a lady who had a crush on Demian might be plotting something while watching her passionately cling to him?

Even without listening to their worried words, he, as a lifelong rival, knew better than anyone that his half-brother was a flawlessly meticulous and clever being.

‘He surely would have placed some sort of device to prevent Lady Heron from disclosing the contents of their conversation.’

Therefore, rather than prying into what conversation she had with Demian right now, it seemed better to naturally create contact with Levi and then look into it slowly.

He was already interested in her, as she had recently begun to establish her position among the nobles, so it didn’t feel like a nuisance.

If, by any chance, a secret deal had been made between the two…… then he would have to make a choice accordingly.

“I greet the 2nd Prince. His Highness the 1st Prince asked about the circumstances of Luge Ryner’s attack and my well-being.”

“I’m glad to hear the conversation ended well. What brings you here?”

At Frid’s question about her business, Levi glanced to the side.

Through the glass window, she could see Ayla and Luge inside the space used as an interrogation room.

‘Luge looks out of his mind, and Ayla looks pale, probably because she’s nervous.’

It seemed like a brilliant choice to come here as soon as she finished her conversation with Demian.

“The thing is—”

Levi looked at Frid with a serious yet earnest face.

In fact, Levi had stopped by to check if Ayla was being misunderstood.
