Chapter 2.32
The reason Luge had carried out a knife attack, which wasn’t in the original story, was because she had changed the development.
She wanted to prevent the consequences of that action from splashing onto Ayla.
‘She’s just now reclaiming her inheritance and about to see some light—I can’t let her suffer just because she’s a direct descendant of the same Ryner family.’
Since it was the 2nd Prince Frid who protected her at the perfect time, it would be problematic if the story came out that a member of royalty was harmed in a weapon rampage caused by a member of the Ryner family.
Before getting to the point, Levi bowed politely.
“I stopped by to express my gratitude to the Prince for suppressing Luge Ryner.”
Frid looked at Levi, who was showing her manners so demurely, as if he were entranced.
Her lips, reddish like a ripe fruit, held a soft smile, and her long eyelashes slowly covered her eyes.
The way the sunlight coming through the open window touched her lush platinum-blonde hair and flowed softly was engraved like an afterimage on his retina.
Was it because he had just come out of a dark and cold space after finishing an investigation?
Encountering Levi Heron up close, she caught his eye to a bewildering degree.
Frid wondered what secret conversation the woman before him might have shared with his half-brother, and replied as if he were possessed.
“I only did what I naturally should have done as a knight.”
“As a knight who protects the Imperial Family, it is only right that I protect you, Lord Frid.”
“Is that how it is?”
Frid held a light laugh and grabbed the handle of the interrogation room door.
Normally, he would have ended the conversation by saying he was glad to be of help, but for some reason, his mouth moved on its own.
“Then, let’s consider it that Lady Heron owes me one, including preventing the attack and giving Luge Ryner a severe punishment.”
“Is there a reason you say once instead of twice?”
“I was prepared for an attack anyway, so you wouldn’t have been hurt even if I hadn’t stepped in, and punishing a criminal is originally my job as well.”
Frid closely observed the change in Levi’s expression.
Seeing that she wasn’t surprised or didn’t correct his words, it seemed that, as expected, Levi had the possibility of Luge’s attack in mind.
‘Since it would have been easier to handle if her wicked uncle made a huge scene.’
Knowing that she could be hurt, her action of protecting her friend gave Frid a strange resonance in his chest.
Was it because he was actually facing the lady he had only heard rumors about? He wondered why there were so many impressive things about her.

Frid personally opened the interrogation room door for her and added.
“I know that today’s incident was Luge Ryner’s independent action, so you don’t have to worry about Miss Ayla suffering any damage. She must have been shocked, so please let her rest plenty.”
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
Levi bowed once more and stood up with Ayla.
‘Frid is surprisingly thoughtful of Ayla.’
Inside, she thought that some sort of spark might have flown between the two before she arrived.
However, Ayla was thinking something completely different while looking at Frid.
‘He’s a person whose front and back are very different.’
For some reason, Ayla didn’t look favorably upon Frid, who seemed to be trying to win Levi’s favor.

“You must have been shocked, so get some good rest, Ayla.”
After having dinner together at the Heron mansion, Levi took Ayla to the guest room and headed to her office.
Her head throbbed at the thought that another task had been added to her life, besides seeking a way to survive and handling the small affairs of the family.
“If we talk for too long, it will cause unnecessary misunderstandings, so let’s stop here for today.”
Demian had said that, and then he said he would look for a way to get rid of the hideous mark and give her a word.
‘If I look into it on my end too, we might be able to handle the dragon pattern faster.’
It was definitely a big problem that such a mark appeared on his body after being attacked by a high-ranking demon.
It was a headache enough if just a pattern appeared, but to think that Demonic Energy that turns a person into a beast faithful to desire comes out from there.
‘As expected, was that lust demon not completely dealt with?’
Just as she was thinking it would be good if she could get a book containing information about high-grade demons, the butler Baron knocked on the door and delivered some welcome news.
“My Lady. A reply has arrived from the Master.”
“A letter from Father?”
