Chapter 2.33
The region where Elbert Heron, head of the family, was on a business trip had long been a place where magic failed to function for unknown reasons.
Naturally, transmission spell couldn’t be cast either, so letters could only be exchanged through people, making the cycle long.
‘I sent a letter shortly after deciding to enroll in the Academy—I wonder what kind of reply he wrote.’
A letter filled with the affection of her real father.
In her past life, having grown up in an orphanage without knowing her parents, she had never received such a thing and never expected to receive one.
Even though it took a month to exchange, the fact that there was someone who looked after her well-being by writing letters made her feel like her past life was being compensated.
[To my beloved daughter, Levi Heron.]
As she took in the familiar handwriting that was written with care, her heart throbbed on its own and her eyes grew hot with emotion.
Levi calmly read through the sentences one by one, which asked various things about her health and were curious about her daily life.
After being moved by the warm interest for a moment, she discovered the information she needed right now.
[Since you say your health has improved greatly, I suppose I should tell you about the secret library that is passed down only to the heirs of Heron.]
***
While reading the letter sent by my father with a feeling of comfort and emotion, I straightened my posture.
‘Heron’s secret library?’
House Heron was a family that had endured for about 660 years, from the time the First Emperor declared the Yvelun Empire until now.
As much as the history was deep, it wasn’t strange that there were records secretly passed down only to successors.
‘Since they are records left by the heads of the family who have dealt with demons for generations, there might be information related to the mark that appeared on Demian’s body.’
[You might lose your appetite while reading the books in the secret library, so when you are mentally prepared enough, tell the Head Butler Baron.]
Is my father worried that I might get shocked and faint while reading a book?
I looked at Baron, thinking it might be a bit of an excessive worry even if he thought his daughter was sickly.
“I want to go to the heir’s secret library that Father mentioned in his letter.”
“My Lady…… If you wish, I will guide you to the entrance of the library, but I am worried that you might get shocked and faint like when you saw the demon illustrated book last year.”
Well, there was a reason for his worry.
“Furthermore, didn’t you have nightmares for several days after waking up? Your health deteriorated because you couldn’t sleep, and the family doctor had to examine you three times a day.”
“…….”
“Wouldn’t it be better to visit during the day when the sun is high in the sky? If it’s bright all around, you’ll be less shocked even if a terrible illustration comes out.”
Following my father, even the loyalists of the family are striving to overprotect me, making it so I can’t even get a drop of water on my hands.
I felt like I knew exactly why this body grew up as a weak, spoiled child.
It might be a side effect that they overprotected Levi so much that it made her rely on someone like Uncle Aaron.
But now was the time for change.
“It’s okay. I’ve been training hard, so I don’t just faint like before.”
If I still had a body that fainted just because a little blood rushed to my face like before, I would have fainted long ago when Demian asked how the dragon on his lower body was.
I stood up from my seat, saying there was nothing to worry about.
The head butler looked at me with eyes full of worry, but on the other hand, he seemed moved.
“Then please come this way. It is an honor to witness the scene of the Lady entering the heir’s secret library for the first time.”
“Saying it like that makes me nervous.”
“I will write today’s events in detail in the report letter to be sent to the Master. He will surely be very happy.”
I tried to stop the head butler, but then I gave up after seeing his eyes burning with motivation.
‘Just how long and detailed do the employees of this mansion write their report letters to Father?’
Once again, my cheeks felt flushed by the overprotection of this mansion’s employees.
Thinking that from now on I should show a dignified side like a proper heir and not a spoiled lady, I followed Baron, and soon we were in front of the library’s fireplace.
“This fireplace is the entrance to the secret library, My Lady. If the heir who possesses the Blessing of the First infuses enough mana, you will be able to enter.”
After saying that, Baron stepped aside.
As I reached my hand toward the magic stone placed instead of firewood, I was a little worried.
I wondered if I could pour in enough mana for a large fireplace befitting a majestic library to react.
However, the worry was for nothing…….
