Chapter 100
Polyxyne’s lips curled in a smirk, as if teasing herself for being so drunk with want—though the one who filled her thoughts wasn’t the one chastising her, but Cassis. Then, a voice like a pearl rolling across silver, liquid and sweet, coiled around his ears.
“I am Polyxene . You know me, don’t you?” Her breath was a slow, deliberate purr. “I’ve completed my Sentinel training and returned… and now I’ve come to offer my respects to His Majesty the King, who honors us with his presence at the Aika Festival.”
A flimsy excuse, but she’d made it sound so plausible. Not that it fooled anyone.
“What?”
“Tch. And here I thought she’d say something worth hearing…”
“Mel. You’re close with her. What’s her problem?”
“Huh? Uh… well, we didn’t speak today, so how would I know?”
Disapproving murmurs rippled through the crowd, mocking her weak deflection. Even Mel, usually her ally, wouldn’t defend her this time. But Polyxene didn’t bother glaring at their petty, clueless faces. Instead, she let her smile deepen, her body swaying just enough to make the silk cling to her curves. She had been called a living silver flute—every line of her pristine, every movement dripping with sinful grace.
“Since I’ve said my piece, I’ll take my leave. Long live His Majesty the King!”
“…….”
Cassis didn’t soothe her humiliation. He didn’t even look at her. His indifference was a blade, cold and sharp, and yet—between her thighs, heat pulsed in answer. A flood of slick arousal soaked her, so sudden she nearly gasped.
‘F**k. Even when I’ve been stretched wide by men twice his size, I’ve never been this wet. But him… only he can f**k me well enough to satisfy this hunger.’
She didn’t bow. She lifted her chin, letting them all see the defiance in her eyes as she stepped back. The other women, sensing her retreat, stopped their shoving and glares.
Then—Cassis stood.
No scepter, no grand gesture. Just the raw, commanding presence of a king who owned every room he entered. A shuddering sigh swept through the crowd.
“Ah… Your Majesty…”
“Long live the King!”
“Ugh, what a bunch of annoyances. I’m the one who’ll have him in the end, so why are they being so shamelessly greedy and bothering me? Everyone, back off—I said back off!”
While Polyxene glared, his firmly sealed lips finally parted.
“I hereby proclaim the beginning of the Aika Festival. O elves, more beautiful and mighty than any in this world—it is through your toil and devotion that Jupiter enjoys yet another day of peace. As your king, I too shall strive for Jupiter’s glory for as long as I reign.”
“Long live His Majesty the King!”
“Loyalty to our wise and glorious sovereign!”
“May Jupiter endure forever!”
“May the World Tree bestow its blessings upon His Majesty!”
“Your Majestyyyy!”
“…….”
Among the various shouts, the loudest were mostly the voices of women, and regardless of gender, everyone chanted Cassis’ name more fervently than they did Jupiter’s. Such was the overwhelming popularity of the one who bore both the call and the selection of the World Tree. Even before the elves’ cheers could fully die down, celebratory fireworks began bursting impatiently—carefully avoiding any space where the World Tree’s branches or leaves might be.
Amid the now even more heated atmosphere, the Aika Festival had begun. And just because it was broad daylight didn’t mean the sanctioned lust couldn’t be unleashed. If that were the case, the Aika Festival would’ve lost its vitality and died out long ago.
A mere hour later, the air inside the capital burned as fiercely as a roaring hearth. Everywhere—within the prepared tents, behind thin partitions, beneath the pergolas set up to shield from prying eyes—the sounds of feverish moans and sweat-slicked skin tangling together already rang incessantly in someone’s ears. The warm spring breeze might as well have fled in shame from the scorching heat.
Hah…
Having sharp hearing wasn’t always a good thing. Cassis’ temples throbbed, but he showed no sign of discomfort as he called for the water he had pushed aside earlier. The undines he commanded were all currently occupied—there was no way to summon them now.
“Will you give me a drink?”
“Yes.”
“Your Majesty! Let me serve you.”
“…….”
Polyxene , coiled like a viper poised to strike, slithered between the attendant and the King, her fingers snatching the glass with possessive hunger. The insolence of it should’ve drawn gasps—but the Aika Festival’s debauchery had already loosened tongues and inhibitions. The courtiers murmured, but none dared stop her. Not when her hips swayed like that, not when her lips glistened with unspoken promises.
“L-look at her. Polyxene ’s at it again…! She’s practically begging for it—”
“Tch… Shameless.”
“Fast as a w***e chasing gold. They should rename her ‘Cockroach.’”
“Disgusting!”
Hah. You mewling kittens think you’re my equals? Her nails dug into her palm. Watch me. I’ll ride his throne before any of you even taste his shadow.
