Chapter 102
Walking silently along the main road, Cassis frowned as the wind brushing past his ears was too ticklish. No matter how he felt it, this wind had clear artificial purposes, making it impossible to simply ignore.
‘How bothersome.’
That wasn’t the end of it. Only in the space where he walked, the scent of pollen released by the World Tree was stronger than usual, reaching an almost nauseating intensity. It definitely felt like something was trying to communicate, so he went to the nearest pergola and leaned against a pillar. Though the World Tree was indeed a magnificent entity, it wasn’t an omnipotent god, and with all the spirits busy working, certain procedures needed to be followed.
The tip of the root that had broken through the ground and wrapped around that pillar wiggled as if it had been waiting and reached toward him. At this moment, Cassis and the World Tree were virtually connected as one.
“…Ha.”
A deflated sound escaped his lips.
Was that all it was about?
Cassis couldn’t help but twist the corner of his mouth briefly in an incredulous smile. It was something trivial that hardly required the World Tree to exert its power to inform him. It was a petty conspiracy that didn’t even come close to the suspicious movements of humans he had mentioned before.
Even if it were to happen, Cassis wouldn’t bat an eye. A single night with an unwanted woman was truly an insignificant moment to him. What did one day of abandonment matter to an elf who lived for eternity?
However… The fact that Iel was actively involved in planning this didn’t sit well with him. Previously, she hadn’t even hinted at meeting that Guardian apprentice, so was this to be seen as betrayal?
Not every elf residing in the castle was distinctly imprinted in his mind. He knew Polyxene’s name and face, but after witnessing her pathetic behavior today, he didn’t want to know more. Therefore, he had no intention of showing the slightest generosity toward that elf. There was no need to even think of Evelyn’s face, resting well in his bedroom.
‘When the World Tree said nothing lasts forever and I scoffed, I find myself embarrassed now.’
Though he had plenty of ways to avoid it, Cassis decided to walk right into the trap instead of turning it around to cause embarrassment. This was out of consideration for Iel, who had been working hard in all aspects.
He entered the Hall of Silence that was attached to the Pantheon dedicated to the goddess Theia. It was to perform an abbreviated ritual praying for the success of the festival, as Iel had recommended. Only now did he understand why Iel had so carefully laid out that strange argument that the ritual would be more effective if he, as the king blessed by the World Tree, performed it alone.
Did this mean that even he, the Knight of a Thousand Years, was weak before his own kin?
Just as he was personally placing candles in the candlesticks and about to gather the ceremonial robes to leave, a thought occurred to him. This vague idea soon developed into a scheme that satisfied him thoroughly.
…That would be good.
Moments later, dressed in pure white ceremonial robes over his formal attire, he walked down the corridor toward the Pantheon. While the outside was busy creating hideaways for couples enjoying the festival, here uniquely all the curtains had been fully drawn back, making it easy to observe activities inside. This was different from how this place usually looked.
Meanwhile, as his footsteps echoing down the corridor grew increasingly distinct, someone waiting by the side door inhaled sharply.
‘Oh, he’s coming. If he’s heading to the Pantheon, this is the only way.’
Polyxene, who had come down here avoiding others’ eyes, was completely excited. Finally, they would be alone, and the perfect opportunity to encounter him loomed before her. Quickly, please quickly—she was desperate with thoughts of having his magnificent member thrust into her body and writhing in pleasure.
‘I’m so wet, but that should be fine… I’ll take these clothes off soon anyway, and this will make it easier for him to enter, right?’
Since she’d heard he was large, this was her way of being accommodating. Smiling slightly, Polyxene lowered the fabric covering her shoulders to expose more than half of her voluptuous b*****s, then solemnly blocked the side door leading to the Pantheon.
The white ceremonial robe was fluttering toward her. Oh, how divine. Soon I’ll make him pounce on me before he can even remove those cumbersome ceremonial robes. Brimming with lust, Polyxene leaped forward recklessly.
She hadn’t even brought the lace blindfold. There was only one person she wanted—Cassis.
“Your Majesty!”
Tuk.
Her hair touched the golden tassels of the ceremonial robe, creating a small disturbance. Polyxene tried desperately to press her coral-tinted, rouge-painted lips against the white ceremonial robe, but was pushed back by his light gesture.
“Your Majesty, Your Majesty. Please listen to me.”
His gaze grew even more moist, yet Cassis remained unmoving like a priest of the gods, impeccably dressed despite her petulant pleas.
“Step aside.”
“Your Majesty, even if the Aika Festival lasted all year, there is only one person who could ever capture my heart. You…! I have no interest in anyone but being held by Your Majesty!”
