“Is that the promise you made yesterday?”

“I’m not a petty man. Take your time, think about what you want.”

“My lord, you are trying so hard to seduce me. I can hardly keep my wits about me this morning.”

Judy Esther threw her arms around Richard’s neck and caressed him to her heart’s content.

“Are you too happy?”

“I’m glad you like me.”

Her voice was filled with affection, and Richard’s expression relaxed at the sound. It seemed like he had always been this way, but now he was even more so—soft and gentle like a jellyfish.
