Chapter 120
However, Lutan was just as unyielding. Roina, feeling a bit troubled by his words, placed her hand on his cheek. Then, she gave a small kiss on his other cheek. At that, Lutan immediately turned his head and gently bit her lips.
“It’s still too dangerous… Roina, you know that you’re more important than anything else.”
His golden eyes shone seriously as he looked down at her. She was the woman he loved more than anyone and held dearest.
“Still, it’s the New Year’s banquet, so it’s a place where a lot of people will gather. Since there’ll be many eyes watching, if I’m careful and stay right by your side, I think it’ll be alright. If anything dangerous—”
“If it seems dangerous, you can take me back right away. This time, I promise not to act separately.”
Only then did Lutan’s expression slightly soften. The woman he loved had always melted his heart like this, unexpectedly showing consideration for him. He didn’t take back his decisions, but the fact that she worried about his feelings made her all the more lovable.
Even her stubbornness, if he were to speak honestly, was unbearably cute. He simply hadn’t said so because he felt he needed to show firmness for the sake of her safety.
“You must not forget that promise.”
With those words, he claimed Roina’s small, lovely lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up again.
Feeling uneasy about his sudden ignition, Roina tapped on Lutan’s shoulder.
Ever since returning from the Amasto territory, he had seemed determined to erase the traces of another man from her, pouncing on her relentlessly at any time.
She understood that it had been unavoidable for the contract, and she also knew it wasn’t a situation where she could simply not go to Rager. But that was that, and this was this.
Lately, she felt as though even two or three bodies wouldn’t be enough. Not because she was actually busy, but because they were engaging in physical relations far too often.
She had indulged him continuously to soothe him for a while, but it truly had no end.
He would start even while eating with her, while watching her cast magic, during conversations like this, or even just upon making eye contact.
It wasn’t like things had been infrequent before, but lately, it had gone far beyond excessive. He constantly sought to leave his mark inside her.
These days, she was genuinely exhausted.
Even the mana flowing into her from him and helping her recover physically didn’t help anymore.
And that wasn’t the only problem.
She was also in a situation where she had to regularly share a bed with Rager to give him mana, and with Lutan constantly exhausting her, trying to handle both was pushing Roina to her limits.
Since entering the Mage Tower, Rager hadn’t stopped reading the scriptures, contemplating the divine, and praying.
Even though he had learned the truth about the god they once served—Quies—he still sought the truth.
It was partly because of his older sister’s final words, who had said that the god resides within us.
Because of that, he lived an ascetic life and was truly shy and bashful before they began. But once it started, he never stopped.
In fact, he clung to her more and more persistently. As if he wanted to do as much as he could while he still had the chance to have her to himself.
And for her, being caught between the two men was just overwhelming and exhausting.
“Wait a moment, Lutan, I have something to do later, hmph.”
“It’s alright if you do it afterward, isn’t it?”
Roina couldn’t continue speaking.
He had parted her teeth, swept across her palate, and twined his tongue around hers.
“Lutan, stop—.”
“Roina, I’m just so afraid. That you’ll disappear again.”
Lutan cast his eyes downward with a sorrowful expression, then looked up at her anxiously. He looked so pitiful, it was hard to believe.
Roina knew by now that all of this was an act, that he was cunningly using her guilt against her—but still, her guilt worked all too well.
He stole her speechless lips again and then walked off, carrying her to the bedroom.
As a small act of revenge for making him worry, he tormented her for a long time that night.
Had Roina known his true intentions, she would have felt terribly wronged. Even without that, he would have kept coming at her anyway. The reasons simply changed a little each time.
