Chapter 249
“What… what did you do to me?”
Roina’s voice trembled uncontrollably.
“Oh dear, I haven’t done anything yet.”
The one with Lutan’s appearance smiled slyly and raised both hands. Roina, dumbfounded, glared at him with hateful eyes. It was clearly Lutan’s appearance, but his eyes were purple, and he had the ability to momentarily bewitch her and prevent her from making proper judgments.
“Ryuhyeon.”
At the mention of the name, his smile deepened, as if Roina was commendable. Roina took another step away from him, and he clicked his tongue regretfully.
“If you would just pretend you didn’t know, I could show you the pleasure of that day once again…”
“Get lost.”
At the voice filled with disgust, Ryuhyeon narrowed his eyes as if he was genuinely hurt and made an exaggerated sound of pain, clutching his heart, but that appearance was utterly detestable.
“How dare you imitate Lutan’s appearance.”
“Haha, why not? After all, he and I are the same being, aren’t we? The only difference is whether you received his love or were abandoned.”
Ryuhyeon’s eyes gleamed dangerously when he said ‘were abandoned.’ Roina froze for a moment. He didn’t miss that sign and quickly approached Roina. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer, and grabbed her right hand, making her unable to move freely. It happened in an instant. Roina was startled and tried to push him away by gathering her energy, but he was unaffected by anything.
‘Wait, this is…’
Roina realized in an instant. It was only when she tried to move the surrounding mana and exert a real influence that she felt it.
“It’s a phantom.”
The moment Roina said that, the space cracked, like a mirror breaking. She seemed to hear a shattering sound. The man with purple eyes in Lutan’s form raised the corners of his lips smoothly and smiled.
“We’ll meet again soon…”
Shatter! Before those words could even finish, something pierced through the space. Ryuhyeon’s form shattered into pieces from the force.
‘A pincer?’
A sand-colored pincer, a stag beetle-like appearance with a hard shell on a body as large as a large dog.
It was Airas, who gathers mana stones by finding them with the blessing of the goddess Aiha.
“Airas!”
Roina shouted happily, and Airas wagged his whole body up and down, seemingly pleased.
The phantom began to break from the shock of the earlier attack, and everything around Roina changed. When she came to her senses and looked around, she was in a cave with water pooled on one side.
“Ethan, Rager…, Jason. Where are the others?”
Roina asked Airas, puzzled, and Airas waved his pincers greatly from side to side. Besides Roina and Airas, there was no one else in the small cave.
There weren’t. Roina looked at Airas with a bitter smile. This intelligent and wondrous creature seemed to understand everything she said.
“…Did you save me?”
Airas nodded somewhat timidly. Roina chuckled. If that’s the case, why is he nodding so shyly?
“Thank you. Can I touch you, by any chance?”
Airas lowered his pincers as if urging her to touch him and thrust his smooth head towards Roina. Roina smiled and gently stroked that area, similar to his forehead, with her fingers. Airas didn’t make any special sounds but subtly moved closer to her. If Airas were a cat, he probably would have purred.
“Then, you don’t know where the others went, right?”
Airas affirmed her words. It wasn’t easy to get the desired information from a being that could only say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Roina let out a troubled groan.
“Hmm, then what should I do now… What’s outside here? Is this inside the royal palace…”
At that, Airas nodded. Hmm, it seems like it’s inside the royal palace. The cave wasn’t that big, and there was a gap at a place slightly higher up the slope, a structure that allowed one to exit through it. Since faint light was leaking out from that direction, Roina decided to go to that entrance first to assess the situation.
