Chapter 22
Mainly the plates that had imitated the Aitalosian dishes relatively well.
She also touched upon a few of the Taringian dishes that looked like their taste could be guessed at from their appearance.
Melgardi stood beside her, carefully noting what she ate, and kept refilling her wine glass so it would never be empty.
From that day on, Lena’s table gradually featured Aitalosian dishes that came closer to the originals, and always, as a matter of course, the gauti was served.
“Please choose the sleepwear you will wear.”
Once the meal was over, Melgardi brought out three sets of thin, sheer undergarments and showed them.
Lena’s mood, which had improved after eating delicious food and resting comfortably, was plunged back into the mud.
It was all too obvious for whose sake she was being told to put on those fabrics that revealed everything underneath.
I do not want to wear these. She was weary even of voicing those words aloud now.
Seeing Lena standing there with her hands hanging limply, Melgardi carefully opened her mouth.
“If the bold designs are not to your liking, how about this one?”
She opened a chest beside the bed and took out one more set of sleepwear.
It was equally thin and fluttering, but comparatively plain and at least somewhat modest in appearance. After changing, Lena fell asleep immediately.
In the middle of the night, someone embraced her and groped her body. Had it been inside the carriage racing toward Taringia, she would have resigned herself and stayed still, knowing well it was that man.
But perhaps because she had received Melgardi’s devoted care for half a day, her body, grown accustomed to comfort, kept pushing away the intruder who was bothering her.
“No. Let… go!”
“…”
When she pushed him away, the man, as if reacting against it, grabbed Lena’s shoulders hard and pressed her down. As she opened her eyes with the feeling of her breath being stifled, her eyes met Godfrid’s in the darkness.
It was as if Lena’s blood froze in an instant. The past few hours she had spent comfortably and peacefully felt like an empty dream. From the very start, where in staying in this man’s quarters was there any comfort without a price?
“Was there anything uncomfortable about your stay?”
Even that question seemed as if he was mocking her.
“I ordered a few Aitalosian dishes to be prepared. Were they to your liking?”
“…”
“I heard you ate quite well.”
So those foods had been prepared at this man’s command. Lena was inwardly surprised, and in the next moment, even her stomach, which had digested the meal well, seemed to churn again.
While she stubbornly kept her mouth shut, Godfrid roughly stripped off her clothes. Lena, who had offered faint resistance, ended up receiving him as she always did.
Her breathing, which had been settled comfortably, grew ragged and quickened with panting sounds, and beads of sweat seeped from her cleanly washed body.
No matter how many times it was repeated, receiving this man was always as overwhelming and draining as the first time.
“Ah…!”
It was always the same. When he entered her body and moved back and forth, all the anger and resentment that had filled her heart flew far away.
Lenasia simply became the body of a female in rut, growing heated, trembling, and making sounds. She even felt pleasure to the point where her mind went blank.
As she wept at the peak of sensation, she wrapped both arms around his neck and desperately clamped down on the body that had entered between her legs, knowing no shame.
That night was no different. Lena soaked herself in pleasure more than enough to be satisfied, then could no longer endure his demanding and fell into a dead sleep at dawn.
When she woke, frankincense smoke was rising from the brazier, the bedding was clean, and between her legs had been tidied neatly.
Yet in spite of all this, this thought came to her.
‘I am the emperor’s livestock.’
If she were a princess, or at the very least a decent woman, she could not brazenly find satisfaction in the arms of that man, of all people.
He had not even taken her to the court and introduced her to anyone, and if things continued like this, she would be no different from a bed warmer.
Nevertheless, she was afraid of dying. If Emperor Godfrid desired her body and guaranteed her safety in return, it was still a transaction worth accepting for Lenasia.
