Chapter 138
In the silence, a strange current embraced them both. The dark crimson light gently caressed their faces. After staring into each other’s eyes for a long while, she carefully reached out and took the large, firm hand of the man. Serdin flinched greatly as if burned, but he didn’t pull his hand away.
Psyche played with his hand while staring at him intently, then quietly, but in a clear tone, said:
“Hold me.”
For a moment, Serdin seemed to forget to breathe. After a few seconds of silence, his refusal came.
“…I can’t do that.”
His voice sounded as if he were being strangled. Somehow, he appeared to be in pain. After another brief silence, the sound of rustling blankets was heard as Psyche raised her upper body.
She cupped the cheek of the visibly confused man and gently kissed his slightly parted, full lips. Until their lips separated with a soft sound, Serdin remained frozen like ice. He hadn’t expected at all that she would do such a thing.
He flinched and turned his head away when Psyche was about to kiss him again.
“…Don’t do this.”
As he tried to push her away, she took his hand and led him to the bed. It was such a weak force that even the slightest push would have sent her back, yet Serdin couldn’t bring himself to reject her.
“Hold me, Serdin.”
She rubbed her face against his broad, firm chest like a puppy, again leading the man—rigid as a statue—to the bed. He squeezed his eyes shut and covered his face with his palm.
“How… how could I dare to…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay…”
She buried her face in his chest and whispered softly.
“Just hold me.”
“…Psyche.”
“It hurts so much…”
Her tearful voice scattered against his chest.
“I want to forget, even like this. So please, just hold me. Make me think of nothing…”
The sound of his teeth grinding escaped through his clenched jaw. If it were up to him, he would have wanted to hold her too. In fact, from the moment he saw her face—no, from the moment he heard her sobbing—he had wanted to rush to her and hold her tight. But did he have the right to do so?
“…War will break out soon.”
He spoke through gritted teeth.
“When that happens, I will destroy everything you’ve ever loved.”
“……”
“And even so, you still want me to hold you?”
“……Yes.”
Ha, Serdin’s face contorted as if in pain as he laughed. He and she had a twisted relationship from the beginning, and because it was a relationship that could never work out, he had tried to sort out his feelings.
But it was impossible.
Absolutely impossible.
Though it was far too late, he wanted to protect her from now on. He wanted to protect everything she loved.
He clenched his fist tightly, then released it. And slowly said:
“I’ll hold you. But promise me something.”
Serdin gripped her shoulders and made Psyche look directly into his eyes. His eyes, which until just now had been full of anguish, now shone firmly as if he had made a decision about something.
“After the war ends, that you’ll give me a chance to approach you properly.”
Psyche hesitated, but seeing his eyes that appeared even resolute, she nodded.
“……I promise.”
At that, Serdin drew in a rough breath and cupped Psyche’s chin with his large hand. Her head tilted upward and their lips overlapped.
What began as gentle suckling of lips gradually grew rougher until at some point, kisses followed as if he would devour her.
“Mmm, mph……”
“Haa…… I’ll make you think of nothing.”
He whispered with their lips still pressed together as he hurriedly pushed aside the blanket covering her. Before Psyche could feel empty from the suddenly vanished warmth, he climbed on top of her.
His large hand slowly trailed down from her shoulder to her elbow, while their tongues tangled and pressed deeper against each other. Their breathing grew heavier.
Serdin’s chest heaved greatly before he crossed his arms and urgently removed his top, tossing it away. Thud, the clothing fell to the floor beside the bed. She took that moment to hastily catch her breath.
In the dim light, his golden eyes shone as if ablaze. His lips, glistening with saliva, looked obscene, and his strong, well-built body exuded raw s****l energy.
“You’re beautiful……”
As if entranced, Psyche reached out and ran her hand over his thick chest.
“Ha, this is driving me crazy……”
Serdin roughly ran his fingers through his hair, then frantically kissed all over her face. As if he would die from how lovely she was. She looked up at him with moist eyes. His gaze, his warmth was more comforting than anything else in this moment.
They stared into each other’s eyes, then without either initiating first, their lips met again. After mixing tongues for a long while, he fumbled his way down, deeply sucking on her neck. With both hands, he kneaded her soft b*****s firmly yet gently.
