As they headed to another store to buy lettuce, Heesu still had a somewhat dejected expression. Violen, who was walking beside her, glanced at her face and spoke.
“You’re not thinking of going out and looking for her or anything, are you?”
Heesu looked at him with a slightly startled expression.
“I can’t?”
“It’s dangerous. Didn’t you see the news earlier? If it’s a typical missing person case, they’ll come back on their own, and if she’s involved with a criminal, even Master could be in danger.”
“But I’m a magical girl. No matter what, I’m stronger than a normal person, so even if I meet a criminal, I’ll somehow…….”

At his question, Heesu blinked in a flustered expression.
“Why? Isn’t magic the strongest no matter what?”

Heesu groaned and shuddered. She had instantly imagined a scene where she was shot dead while using magic, and it gave her the creeps. She had vaguely thought that magic was the strongest power in the world, but it wasn’t. It felt like another one of her romantic fantasies had been shattered.
Then again, she was in a state where she couldn’t even use that magic properly. Her only weapon was swinging her magic wand like a wooden club or a baseball bat. Her good athletic skills were essentially all her abilities amounted to.

Heesu replied weakly and nodded her head.
For a while after that, Heesu remained silent, her lips sealed and a sullen expression on her face. Her excited mood from just moments ago instantly sank. She suddenly felt like an incompetent being. The face of the woman who had cried while holding her hand wouldn’t leave her mind.
“Master! What’s this?”
Heesu, who had been spacing out, was jolted back to her senses by Rufus’s fuss and turned her head.
Where Rufus pointed, several white, round dough patties were sizzling and cooking on a large griddle coated in oil. When the man pressed the dough down firmly with a presser, they quickly became flat.
Rufus and Alburn watched it frantically, constantly exclaiming in admiration.
“The white, round things instantly turned yellow and became flat!”
“It’s amazing…….”
“Is it magic? Is this man a magician too?!”
“I guess so…….”
Heesu said with a troubled expression.
“It’s hotteok.”
“Hotteok?”
“It’s a type of tteok that’s grilled, and it has melted sugar inside.”
“Is it delicious?”
“Of course it is.”
“I want to try it…….”
“Me too…….”
Heesu firmly shook her head at the two who were sending her desperate looks. She spoke with a stern expression, as stern as she could manage.
“No! You guys are going to eat samgyeopsal soon! If you eat this before the meal, you’ll lose your appetite, so no!”

Instead of begging, the two of them pursed their lips, instantly became deflated, and drooped their heads sullenly. They looked just like puppies who had been scolded after getting overly excited and acting up.

As she took money out of her wallet, Heesu resolved that she would never, ever raise children, not even in the distant future. She felt like she could already see the clear path to spoiling her children by giving in to all their tantrums like this.
Watching her, Violen tilted his head.
“Why five of them?”
“If we’re going to eat them, we all have to get one!”

“Of course!”
Heesu handed the money she took from her wallet to Violen.
“I’m going to the bathroom. When the hotteok are done, pay for them, give one to each of the kids, and hold on to mine for me.”
