Chapter 145
Izzen needed a Demon King to serve and a Demon World for that King to rule over in order to follow his father’s will and the family’s purpose—to live as a wicked villain and mastermind.
Izzen first decided he needed to gather pawns for his chessboard, so he tracked down and brought back a few useful demons who had survived the war.
Violen was one of them. Though he was a tentacle-type demon, he was a refined subspecies with a human appearance. For a low-class demon, he was intelligent and good at navigating social situations, making him seem useful in many ways. Furthermore, a type who moved solely for his own benefit and survival, like him, was easy to manipulate, making him a perfectly suitable first pawn.
Though he would later be caught off guard by an unexpected turn of events, at the time, this was what he thought.
Next, he searched for someone who could become the next Demon King. A being with power strong enough that all demons would accept their legitimacy and willingly submit.
While this was the ideal he set, it was not an easy task. The war had massacred most of the royalty and nobility, leaving him quite lost. He felt lucky if he could even find a being who satisfied just one of the two conditions.
Therefore, when he learned that the Demon King’s illegitimate child had survived and fled to the Human World, Izzen felt a simultaneous thrill, joy, and anxiety.
He couldn’t understand why the proud Demon King had lain with a low-class demon and left a child, but Izzen was moved, even thinking it might have been a contingency plan for a time like this.
But he was still uneasy. While legitimacy was secured, even for royalty, mixing blood with a low-class demon creature was bound to dilute and weaken their power. In the Demon World, where the rule of the jungle prevailed, if a weak being ascended the throne based solely on legitimacy, the resulting resistance from other demons would only cause the Demon World to become a bigger mess.
Furthermore, the child’s mother was originally a primitive creature. This child was born from the Demon King and a demon that had been humanized by the King’s magic, after they had intercourse. If the Demon King’s illegitimate child resembled the mother and had the appearance of a primitive creature, that would have to be called a disaster. Because it would mean being forced to serve a primitive creature as the Demon King.
Led by this complex anxiety, Izzen sought out Jaeha. And when he saw Jaeha’s appearance from a distance, he couldn’t help but be as, or even more, moved than he was anxious.
Jaeha not only had a human appearance, but he also had a different look than his original form. The fact that he could transform so freely was proof that he possessed strong demonic power. As if to prove it further, the demonic power overflowing around him was so intense it sent a shiver down Izzen’s spine. For an illegitimate child of the Demon King and a low-class demon creature to possess this level of demonic power—this was nothing short of a miracle.
It was a miracle. Although he didn’t believe in God, this was a miracle that forced him to believe it was divinely guided. Perhaps it was truly the path guided by the insight of the former Demon King.
Thinking this, the moved Izzen immediately rushed forward and knelt before him.
“I have come to serve you, Your Majesty.”
“S**t, f**k off.”
“Cough!”
And he got beaten. He got severely beaten.
The person he had just decided to serve as the Demon King immediately kicked him, sending him flying, and then mercilessly subjected him to violence. He beat him soundly, with a momentum that seemed intent on killing him right there.
Izzen, who hadn’t been beaten this badly even when his private tutor disciplined him with a switch to make him a wicked and excellent villain, continued to be beaten while still in a daze. He finally transformed into a cat and fled in terror. If he didn’t run away, he truly felt he would be beaten to death.
After escaping, Izzen frantically seduced a passing female cat and replenished his demonic power through copulation.
Even as it happened, the emotion Izzen felt never faded—if anything, it swelled even higher.
He had only said ‘Your Majesty’ once, yet the other person immediately beat him without listening further or asking questions. While this was a sign of refusal, it also meant that he had instantly grasped everything from that single phrase. His cold-headed judgment was astonishing. Furthermore, the merciless action of soundly beating him simultaneously with that judgment, and the cruelty of continuing the violence against an opponent who was already a wreck and close to death, were truly supremely excellent.
His heart swelled just imagining the future King, once he ascended the throne, judging with such coldness, acting without mercy, and ruling with such brutality.
Izzen was absolutely certain that he was the one and only true talent who would become the Demon King. He believed it was his destiny to become the Demon King.
So, he decided to stick to him like a barnacle.
To stick to him like a barnacle, he first needed to camp out at his house, and to camp out at his house, it would be advantageous to gain the favor of his family members. Having judged this, Izzen first targeted Jaeha’s mother.
“Oh my, you’re Jaeha’s close older brother?”
“Yes. Since I’ll be visiting often, I brought this as a gift to ask for your kind consideration. Please enjoy it.”
“Wow~ This is my absolute favorite. Thank you. I look forward to seeing you, too.”
He presented the cheesecake he had found she liked through his research, and the human woman loved it immensely. It seemed he had already won her over halfway. She was truly a subject worth the effort of conquering.
Izzen continued to meticulously present her with various fruits and desserts every time he visited. By engaging in conversation tailored to her favorite topics, Jaeha’s mother eventually became very happy and welcoming every time he visited. There was no reason not to like a well-built, handsome young man who gave her what she liked, chatted pleasantly, and gave her plenty of compliments about her son.
Having secured the mother’s favor to that extent, there was now nothing to prevent him from camping out at Jaeha’s house.
“You’re here again?”
“Yes.”
Though Jaeha looked bored watching Izzen settle down in his room, he no longer beat or chased him out. This was because his mother would make a fuss and worry whenever Izzen was hurt. Though he occasionally watched Izzen and his mother chatting harmoniously with a sour expression, he let it be without saying anything.
He would later learn that Jaeha liked seeing his mother, who was always lonely and depressed at home due to menopause, happy to have someone to talk to. Jaeha was a filial son, and there was no filial son who disliked someone who was kind to their parents.
Thus, the sight of Izzen camping out at his house gradually became quite ordinary.
