Chapter 148
Izzen became gloomy. Still, he had no intention of stopping the plan. The five-birds-with-one-stone scheme had merely become a four-birds-with-one-stone scheme, and the efficiency remained.
“But would adult women fall for such absurd talk?”
While Izzen was gloomy, Jaeha, who was lying down as if it was too much effort to even lift a finger, still wearing a world-weary expression, asked. Even though his tone was listless, as if the thought had just suddenly occurred to him, it was enough to make Izzen’s ears prick up.
Could it be, he’s finally taking an interest?
With renewed hope surging, Izzen answered forcefully.
“Normally, no, but in the Human World, there is a category of people called Otaku, who yearn for the unrealistic and special stories, including transforming girls. I plan to target them.”
“Otaku?”
At that moment, Jaeha’s eyes widened, and he froze.
……Why that reaction?
Izzen was secretly startled. This was the first time he had witnessed Jaeha, who was normally indifferent and listless about everything, react like that. It was as if a person who had been sleeping with their eyes open had suddenly come alive. He even felt as though he had witnessed a soul returning to a mere shell of a person.
And the next moment, Izzen was even more startled. Jaeha suddenly stood up, bolted out of the room, and ran somewhere. This was truly the first time he had seen Jaeha move so quickly and diligently.
Jaeha returned quickly. He had moved so fast that it took him less than thirty minutes to return. Clearly showing signs of having run, Jaeha was breathing heavily as he handed Izzen dozens of photos.
“Don’t touch this woman. Give this photo to all the other demons and tell them not to touch her, ever.”
Izzen stared intently at the photos handed to him by Jaeha.
“Is this person…… someone precious to you, Master Jaeha?”
At that question, Jaeha’s eyes violently shook. He immediately looked serious and said,
“No! She’s not. She’s just family. She’s Jaeha’s older sister. She’s just an older sister to me too. But even if she’s not precious, it’s a given, isn’t it? She’s family, so wouldn’t you hate it if your family got involved in something like that? It’s unsettling. So don’t touch her. Got it? Be sure to memorize her face and don’t touch her. You absolutely must not touch her, even by mistake.”
Jaeha spoke as if making an excuse, even with his face flushed. Izzen, who had never seen him speak so many words at once so quickly, became even more bewildered.
“Yes…….”
When he trailed off ambiguously, thinking he should at least answer, Jaeha outright pressured him.
“If you touch her, you’ll die by my hand!”
“Yes!”
Izzen was startled and quickly replied. Only then did Jaeha look somewhat relieved.
Yes. She is important. A truly important person.
His expression seemed to say just that. That was the first time Izzen realized his Sovereign was a person who made such an expression. A person whose feelings for someone were so precious that they overflowed uncontrollably.
It was only then that Izzen felt the scattered puzzle pieces all click into place. They fit so perfectly that there was no room left for doubt.
A person’s history naturally accumulates in the house they grew up in. So, if there was a person who was Jaeha’s family and sister, there should naturally be traces of that person in this house. But Izzen hadn’t seen a single photo of her while searching the house.
That clearly meant that someone had intentionally removed them.
Jaeha must have anticipated that Izzen would eventually try to find his weakness. So he had removed them beforehand so Izzen wouldn’t know. He had completely and perfectly removed the only person who would be his weakness so that Izzen would never see her.
She was that precious of a person.
The reason Jaeha was strangely uninterested in the opposite s*x, unlike a young man in his prime, was also because of that. Because he was already passionately in love with someone, so much so that he couldn’t spare a glance for anyone else.
Jaeha’s loved one, his precious existence, his sole weakness.
And…… the owner of that room.
Even though he had finally found the weakness of Jaeha that he had so desperately wanted to grasp, Izzen was not happy. Instead, his head became even more complex, and his heart sank heavily.
If someone so precious to him was here, would he truly be willing to go to the Demon World?
Moreover, even if it was only on the surface, if they were siblings on the family register, he would be even less likely to take her with him. Because they could never become lovers.
He was in that kind of love.
Therefore, he might never go to the Demon World. Perhaps, he truly had been wasting time and effort all this time.
He might ultimately fail to bring the Demon King back to the Demon World and seat him on the throne. The demons he had forcefully gathered might eventually break free from his control and start a war, and the Demon World might be destroyed with no chance of rehabilitation.
That way, all the work he had put in so far might instantly go up in smoke.
At the thought of such a future, Izzen despaired. In that deep, heavy despair that seemed to drag him down without end, he agonized. He truly agonized endlessly.
He hadn’t spent this much time thinking even when planning the Magical Girl Project, when contemplating methods for the reconstruction of the Demon World, or even during his childhood when he debated whether to live righteously and kindly according to his nature or wickedly and badly according to his parents’ wishes.
But the answer was already decided.
This wasn’t just a matter of him having to live as a wicked villain and mastermind to continue his father’s will and the family’s purpose. It was a matter concerning the survival of all demons and the very existence of the Demon World. Therefore, there was only one answer.
