As if determined to suck up every drop of saliva from inside her mouth, Calix pressed his lips to hers until he felt a tap on his shoulder. Only then did he part their tightly locked lips.

He stared absentmindedly at the thin string of saliva stretching between them, then slowly looked up to check Lea’s face.

He liked the look of her small, flushed face.

“Haa…”

“You know I told you last time, Lea. You can just breathe through your nose.”

Judging her state by her rough breathing, Calix answered for her. Lea, pouting, covered her swollen lips with her hand and muttered,

“No matter how long you do this, it doesn’t increase the guiding any more. It’s inefficient.”

Receiving guiding from shared fluids every single day, Calix was overflowing with energy. It had already been quite a while since he’d last felt any of the pains that came from a lack of guiding, yet he still always wanted more. Lea didn’t understand him, so she continued,

“From now on, Your Highness, you’ll have to settle for just contact guiding through our hands.”

At this shocking pronouncement, Calix whispered his dissatisfaction.

“But I didn’t get any guiding just now.”

“……”

“Guiding is just a bonus. My real aim is these unbelievably sweet lips. But… can’t I have more?”

He now considered himself to understand Lea to some extent. Strangely, whenever he showed even a little overt affection, she would show signs of discomfort. It didn’t seem like she hated it, but rather, as if she believed she didn’t deserve to receive it.

“I don’t need any more guiding. Can’t we just kiss a little longer? Please?”

She was especially incredibly weak to his playful side. If he put on even a slightly vulnerable expression, she would scrunch her nose. It wasn’t that she disliked it, more like she was trying to hold something back.

Lea hesitated for a moment, then closed her eyes tight and wrapped her arms around his neck, signaling that he was allowed to kiss her.

Afraid she’d change her mind, Calix quickly tilted his head, slipping his tongue between her lips just as they parted. Just as he was about to slide his tongue inside, a voice came from outside.

“Your Highness, Lady Lea. I’ll prepare your meal now.”

Calix shot a frosty glare at the entrance, about to yell ‘Don’t come in!’—but Lea was faster. She quickly slipped off his thigh and ran to open the tent flap.

The chef brought in a table laden with stew full of meat and a basket heaped with soft white bread.

With an apologetic look, the chef bowed to Calix and Lea and asked,

“Are you sure you want the same menu as the soldiers?”

Lea, who had already given her orders, answered brightly.

“I told you to make a stew without skimping on ingredients, so even His Highness wouldn’t find it lacking. Instead, serve the fruit we brought as dessert.”

“Yes, understood.”

Calix only watched her. He would have eaten the same meal as the soldiers, even if she hadn’t said anything.

That’s why, at times like this, he couldn’t help but feel amazed.

How did Lea always manage to know what he wanted without him ever having to say it?

He could chalk it up to being by his side since she was Luna, but this wasn’t the palace. Even here, in a completely different environment, she would sense what was bothering him and take care of it before he could even mention it.

“Your Highness, please eat.”

After the chef left, Lea spoke to Calix.

“…Shall I?”

He was just about to tangle their tongues together one more time, but set that aside and sat facing her.

“Wow, this is really delicious.”

After taking a bite of stew, Lea spoke. Calix leaned forward and opened his mouth, saying,

“Ah.”

“Your portion is right in front of you.”

“I’m too tired from marching to even lift a spoon.”

“……”

The ridiculous excuse left Lea speechless, but she didn’t dislike it. If anything, it was almost endearing.

With a slight pout, Lea scooped up a large spoonful, blew on it to cool it, and fed it to him.

He took it happily and grinned.

“Mmm, it really is good.”

He looked so dazzling in that moment that Lea found herself falling for him all over again, tearing off a piece of bread and popping it into her mouth.

Even now, she could hardly believe how different things were from the past. Maybe she’d feel that way until the day she died. All of it felt like a miracle.
