Chapter 147
After criticizing them in a cynical tone, he revealed his true purpose.
“It’s not just about temporarily using the Guides of Leonis for the sake of war. I intend to bring all of them to Cantabria after the war ends. My goal is to make them settle here permanently.”
At his firm declaration, every Esper inside the command tent held their breath. Having suffered from a chronic lack of guiding for so long, they could no longer reject someone just for being beastkin.
“To do that, we absolutely have to win this war. Then, we’ll sign a peace treaty and secure the Guides safely.”
He wasn’t just telling them not to touch Lea, he was making it clear that he’d provide another option, so they’d better step aside on their own. At his words, Zion and Derek’s expressions sank low, but the others were different.
“To secure Guides… Even the thought is thrilling.”
Everyone agreed with Eric’s mutter. Calix, meanwhile, silently watched Zion and Derek’s expressionless faces and smirked inwardly.
They were always the ones he liked the least, regardless of skill.
“So go raise the morale of the Esper soldiers. Let’s make sure our wish comes true.”
“Yes, sir!”
Thus, the next battle was set to use the northern cold as a tactic.

After finding the direction the enemy had launched their attack from, Calix secured the high ground and sent a biting wind toward that side, channeling the northern chill.
The wind-element Espers admired and idolized his overwhelming power.
Based on the information Derek had obtained, Calix speculated about the enemy leader’s temperament. If he kept provoking him like this, wouldn’t he soon get angry enough to charge in himself?
Amused by the thought, he created a powerful storm and sent it straight toward the enemy camp.
Partly to get under the enemy’s skin, but also, in truth, hoping he’d drain his own energy and get plenty of guiding from Lea, Calix poured out his powers to the limit.
With such a not-so-pure intention, he purposely overused his abilities and returned, waiting in her tent. But having to sit quietly and watch his Guide give guiding to other Espers… it was truly unbearable.
Even if she only allowed them to hold her hand, even that was more than he liked, and every Esper must feel the same.
Soon enough, it was finally his turn. As soon as Lea entered the tent, Calix pulled her to him with the wind.
He quickly undressed her and pulled her under the covers with him. Already naked and waiting, he gave a playful, wicked smile and teased,
“If you keep neglecting your Esper like this, he might just go looking for another Guide. That pig werebeast we brought back is plump and just my type, you know.”
He was jokingly threatening her, pressing a kiss to her pale nape, when he felt her body go stiff.
Puzzled, he looked up, and Lea wound her arms around his neck, pulling him close.
“…It’s not time yet, is it?”
“Of course not yet. I’m just saying you should take good care of me in case it happens, Lea.”
At her pouty tone, Calix just smiled happily. Lea might seem unflappable, but she was quite possessive. She just tried hard not to show it.
He’d already noticed that about her. She buried her face in his shoulder, then drew back a little to meet his eyes.
Those desperate golden eyes were so lovely.
“Is there something Your Highness wants?”
“Now what’s gotten into you, asking me something like that?”
The cute question made the corners of Calix’s lips curl up uncontrollably.
“Are you going to do anything I ask?”
“…Yes, if that’s what Your Highness wants.”
“You shouldn’t go making promises like that, Lea.”
He didn’t mind her making such promises to him, but he was worried she might naively promise something like that to another Esper, so he firmly warned her.
“To anyone but me—never. Got it?”
“…Yes.”
“Seriously, what’s gotten into you today…”
Calix was actually starting to get suspicious because she was so obedient, and was about to say something, but suddenly guiding began. Lea put her lips to his nape and started guiding him without warning.
“Hah, you’re cute.”
She was cute as she sucked on his skin, but that wasn’t really his preference. Calix gently pried her away and whispered low,
“You said you’d do what I asked, didn’t you?”
