Chapter 28
He sensed a peculiar, sweet scent from Roarna. An aroma more like ripe fruit than flowers. He knew she didn’t typically wear perfume, so it was probably the scent of the oil she usually used.
He didn’t know if she’d always had this sweet smell. He had never been conscious of things like Roarna’s scent in his entire life.
But now was different. The sweet fragrance permeating the lab made his lower abdomen feel heavy and tense. The brand was probably burning hot as well.
“You’re earlier than I expected.”
Roarna’s voice came from behind the bookshelf. Unlike the turmoil in his head, her voice was calm, even peaceful.
Celesto slowly approached where the sound came from. Above the surprisingly neatly organized bookshelf, he could see the top of her black head.
Roarna was perched on top of a ladder, reading a book. Whether she was looking for something, half-read books were scattered here and there on the floor.
Celesto paused for a moment, gripping his thigh tightly beneath his hood.
Perhaps because their eye levels were reversed from usual, he felt a strange sensation. Enough to make the root of his curse-marked c**k twitch and pulse.
“The elevator line moved faster than I thought.”
“You took that? I told you to come at this time assuming you’d take the stairs.”
“Nine floors? By the stairs?”
“You used to walk that much usually.”
Celesto’s face contorted.
Roarna was right. He didn’t usually choose the stairs over the elevator, but normally, he wouldn’t have bothered squeezing onto a crowded elevator either.
If it weren’t for the fact that walking was uncomfortable because of his e***t d**k since the day before their appointment.
But Roarna couldn’t possibly know that. In fact, he hoped she would never know.
Roarna muttered with a slightly sullen face.
“Now everyone will know I have a new client… It’ll be annoying if they ask me to introduce who it is.”
“…What do you mean, introduce?”
“When a healthy-looking man comes as my client, a lot of people ask who he is. Maybe because it’s hard to find healthy individuals… I mean, people.”
Something massive inside Celesto writhed, gnawing at his reason.
‘Is she oblivious?’
It was a thought he couldn’t dare voice aloud.
Celesto tore his gaze away from Roarna. Then he buried his head in the bookshelf filled with suspicious books.
There was also Leocel’s remark about men who would choose to get cursed just to receive Roarna’s attention, and the people who stared at him the moment he pressed the button for the 9th floor, where the taboo scholars’ labs were concentrated.
Roarna’s life, seemingly filled only with human taboos, actually had quite a few men in it unexpectedly.
Come to think of it, the fact that Roarna had experience was also strange. A woman who wasn’t particularly interested in people, let alone romance, was familiar enough with s*x to enjoy pleasure with her friend’s brother.
From what he had experienced over the past few weeks, Roarna wasn’t the type of person who could create an atmosphere conducive to such things.
Just last week, even though he had invited her to a secluded villa, didn’t she just keep talking about work?
‘Which means… other bastards created that kind of situation.’
Celesto felt his fingertips tremble slightly.
He had literally never been conscious of Roarna Balseren as a woman in his entire life. The fact that she was a pretty-faced girl had always made him uncomfortable, but he had never been particularly conscious of it.
Naturally, he had never deeply considered the environment surrounding this woman.
But now it is different. Everything bothered him, to the point where he couldn’t believe he had been so indifferent his whole life.
Who had done that with Roarna?
Was it one of the scholars he met in the elevator earlier?
How far had he gone with other bastards? And what kind of bastard was it who made him realize he’d e*******e faster when rubbing his c**k between thighs than when rubbing his glans on her c******s?
Thinking that far, his heart pounded violently.
Celesto pressed firmly on his chest. He felt a heat as if branding his flesh through the fabric. It was an inexplicable reaction, just like the heat in his lower abdomen that tormented him every night.
“Here it goes again, really…”
Celesto muttered to himself.
It seemed the heat that wouldn’t disappear even with prayer or immersion in cold water had finally climbed all the way up.
When she heard his voice, Roarna turned to look at him.
“What? Is the curse acting up again?”
“…Probably.”
“Persistent, isn’t it. They must have researched and created it thoroughly.”
Roarna closed the book she had been reading.
“I wanted to conduct an experiment since you came all the way to the lab, but this doesn’t seem like the time to be looking through books. Let’s start with the lesson first.”
“Lesson?”
