Chapter 234
“Did you just yell at me?”
Nelia sprang up from her seat in disbelief. Dillion, with his patience snapped, lifted his head and glared. All pretense gone, he looked like a furious street thug.
“Yes! The one who should be angry right now isn’t you—it’s me!”
“W-what did you just say?”
“Don’t make bold claims from the start! Or at least prepare a proper plan! I should have seen through it the moment you brought those sorcerers, claiming they were your trump card!”
“Why are you blaming me now? Back then, you even said it was a good strategy!”
“You pushed forward without knowing the target’s abilities and now shout about how clever you were? The one in the worst situation right now is me—me!”
Dillion slammed his fists on the table. Nelia, seeing a side of him she had never witnessed, could only gape.
Is this truly the same man who had whispered sweet words to her? Her mind reeled.
“You didn’t realize even when they came out with the reagents and analyzed them? They knew our plan from the very beginning!”
The teacups and teapot found at the scene contained a powerful confession d**g, deliberately enhanced to be even more effective than before, undeniable in its toxicity.
It was incontrovertible evidence.
“So… you’re really angry at me? Seriously?”
Nelia gasped, and Dillion felt exasperation rise. Years of feigning gentleness under his mother’s advice now seemed utterly wasted.
“I no longer see value in conversing. Take the lady to her room. Do not let her come out until she’s calmed.”
“Let go of me! Dillion! Dillion! How can you do this to me? Even if you come to apologize, I won’t accept it!”
Nelia continued to scream as she was dragged away. Dillion pressed his hand to his forehead, groaning.
“I can’t kill her, but letting this slide is too dangerous… damn. I’ve really been bitten this time.”
Bang! The table hit the floor with a crash.

Regardless, the First Queen could not simply abandon Nathan. It was not out of pity.
If Nathan were left to his fate, his father, Marquis Wheddon, would not remain passive. If he reported the plan to overthrow the Emperor, it would become a massive problem.
Thus, the First Queen’s faction quietly moved to rescue Nathan. Their argument tried to attribute Sebelia’s abilities to some strange sorcery, but among the victims’ friends were high-ranking nobles, complicating matters.
They insisted that whether Sebelia’s powers were real or not didn’t matter; the priority was to locate the victims. Thanks to this clear warning, Dehart was free to act as planned.
“We located the bodies of the missing young ladies exactly where Miss Appenz indicated.”
Sebelia had promised not to summon the illusions to court, but she never said the culprits would be left alone. As soon as Nathan was taken away, she exerted all her energy to maintain the full scope of the scene.
[We need to find those locations. That’s where they’ll be.]
That day, Sebelia gave the order and collapsed. Dehart, catching her, carried out her instructions faithfully—and the results were exactly as she had intended.
“And we obtained confessions from the Wheddon household servants who were captured. Cross-referencing the servants’ testimony with the locations of the bodies and the marks on them, they matched exactly.”
Ludmil read the report sent by the captain of the capital guard, who, having seized a lead on the unresolved case, was meticulously investigating the situation.
“Finally, the families and relatives of the victims are strongly demanding punishment for Nathan Wheddon.”
Once Ludmil finished, Shateian rested his chin on his clasped hands and blinked. He seemed to be thinking, then asked bluntly.
“What did His Majesty say?”
“…That is…”
Ludmil frowned slightly and spoke reluctantly.
“Before the bodies were reported found, His Majesty intended to leave the matter in the hands of Prince Dillion.”
“Seems the First Queen really put in the effort.”
“Yes, but now that the case has escalated from Bella Appenz’s kidnapping and attempted murder to a series of murders, they cannot move carelessly.”
It wasn’t just the number of victims that mattered. Now, people were watching the Wheddon household closely, and by extension, Prince Dillion, the First Queen, and the Eastern nobles connected to them drew public scrutiny.
This was a major setback for the First Queen’s faction. They would have to scramble to silence Nathan and conceal the matter.
‘Of course, they won’t have the luxury of time.’
Shateian tapped the table lightly, smiling with satisfaction.
