Ren smiled faintly and reached out to me. Despite my instinctive retreat, he didn’t mind at all and brushed the dust from my shoulder as he spoke.

I followed Ren into the elevator. He didn’t say a word as he operated the device, so the elevator remained silent for a while.

The mention of the anklet weighed heavily on my mind. The shock of him noticing the artifact that helped with my magic, and the suspicion of why he was still sending me off, knowing about it.

What exactly are his intentions? Does he still suspect me of being a possessor?

As these thoughts tangled, the elevator arrived at the floor leading to the entrance. And there, I met someone unexpected.

“Ren!”

A woman with rare black straight hair, who stood out in this place, called the man next to me loudly.

She wore a dress made of fabric that wasn’t flashy, but it was clearly of the highest quality. I recognized the limited-edition shoes from the last time we visited the Rouge boutique.

Her hair, well-maintained with oils, had a texture that immediately signaled wealth. She also wore accessories that were clearly expensive, giving me the impression that she wasn’t of an ordinary status.

“I hear the execution date has been set. Is that true?”

Her familiar red irises caught my attention.
