Chapter 23
“Wait—so the reason I kept getting all confused and worked up over everything was… all because of…!”
Because of him.
Fay’s mouth fell open.
Was she really the kind of witch who got sexually excited by an octopus?
Or had she simply become so starved for affection that she no longer cared whether a man was human or not?
How many nights had she agonized, wondering why every touch made her body react so sharply?
And now she finds out—it was intentional. He’d been doing it on purpose. She felt like an idiot for worrying.
Relief washed over her, and she even cracked a smile.
So she wasn’t a pervert after all. Her sanity was perfectly intact—she’d just gotten shaken up by this wicked invoked.
“What were you worrying about?”
Alnazir asked.
“Why did you even do that in the first place?”
Fay dodged the question to protect what was left of her dignity as a witch. Even if it wasn’t her fault, the truth was far too embarrassing to confess.
“Pain feels worse than pleasure, doesn’t it?”
Alnazir teased as his thumb lazily stroked her thigh.
“Well—yes, but—ah…!”
The moan slipped out before she could keep pushing. Her expression had already softened, growing hazier than before.
Satisfied, Alnazir narrowed his eyes and admired her. The quiet, unfiltered sounds she made at direct skin-to-skin touch were fascinating—she didn’t hide anything.
“Nnh…!”
She glared at him at first, but the tingling that traveled down her spine quickly broke her defiance.
She couldn’t reject the sensations anymore—not when it was completely beyond her control. Now that she had a reasonable excuse—that it wasn’t her fault—Fay let herself feel the warmth spreading through her body.
“That’s the second time I’m asking. What were you so worried about?”
“Ah—s-stop. Stop asking. I don’t want to say.”
“Why not?”
“Because I don’t! Just drop—ah!”
When she refused, Alnazir grabbed both her ankles and pulled her flat onto the bed. Her pale thighs were left exposed.
She realized instantly that something below was missing.
With a sharp gasp, Fay yanked her skirt down to cover herself. She managed to shield her underwear, at least.
“If you really don’t want to say it, I won’t force you.”
He lifted her ankles higher. Unable to sit up, the witch squirmed helplessly.
Alnazir watched her flushed, panicked face with eyes curved in amusement. Her confusion suited her far too well.
Ignoring her plea to let go, he leaned in and pressed his cheek to the top of her foot.
“How does this feel?”
He rubbed his cheek against her skin, then lifted his lips and kissed her. The soft pop of his lips leaving her foot made Fay gasp helplessly.
“Hhn…!”
Alnazir continued, kissing her over and over, almost possessively. His tongue slid along her foot, leaving warm, wet trails. His eyes never left her face—he watched her reactions, unwilling to miss even one twitch.
His mouth curved in a faint, rare smile. Fay barely noticed the smile, too distracted by the sharp white teeth now visible between his lips.
She hadn’t paid close attention before, but she remembered his teeth being fairly straight. Now they looked… pointed.
Predatory. Not human.
Do octopuses even have teeth? Well, they must—how else would they catch fish in the sea?
She tried to reassure herself, yet fear filled her. It felt like she had suddenly become the helpless fish about to be devoured.
“W-wait!”
As his mouth opened wider, Fay blurted the first thing that came to mind.
“Hold my hand!”
If she asked him to let her go, he’d ignore her—that much she knew. Her survival instincts offered a bizarre alternative.
Alnazir halted.
He stared at her, clearly not understanding why she wanted that, but he didn’t reject it. He reached out, slid his fingers between hers where her hands rested on her stomach, and intertwined their hands. Her palm was embarrassingly damp from nerves.
“S-sorry. It’s sweaty—let me wipe it—”
She tried to pull away, but Alnazir lifted her hand and kissed the damp palm instead.
Fay sucked in a breath, trembling. A spark shot through her—from her fingertips, up her spine, and down to her toes.
Her body felt drunk on heat, yet her mind oddly calmed. For all the frightening possibilities she’d imagined, his touch now felt surprisingly gentle.
