Chapter 43
Despite having been inseminated to the point her belly was stretched to its limit during her fertile period, Sylvia still hadn’t become pregnant.
She was inwardly shocked. She couldn’t understand how it was possible that she hadn’t conceived.
Unable to resist Rossa’s nagging, she had undergone multiple medical examinations—to see if her body was capable of pregnancy or if there was something preventing it. The doctors had always reported that she had an exceptionally healthy womb, albeit in a disturbingly suggestive manner.
“Alright. Since you’re not pregnant, we have to do it again, right?”
Her husband’s excited voice drifted into Sylvia’s dazed ears.
The sound rolled softly around her ear like a slow current settling in, his awkward voice finally snapping her back to awareness. She quietly looked up at her husband in their marital chamber, where the doctor had just left.
“…?”
“Why?”
It had been two months since their first night together, and now she was certain: her husband was in heat all year round.
While Sylvia grew more afraid the more they shared their bodies, he seemed to grow a possessive affection with every time he forced things inside her. Having never dated before, Sylvia couldn’t tell if this was a common trait among men or peculiar to her husband alone.
“Why are you staring at me like that? It’s making me hard.”
Whether it was a typical male trait or just this crazy man’s quirk didn’t really matter. What mattered was that this man was far more aroused by her now than he had been just two weeks ago.
He happily handed her a blindfold he had already prepared by the bed. Sylvia recoiled in disgust. She clearly showed her refusal through gestures and expressions, but her husband was undeterred.
As he began to undress rapidly, she voiced her reluctance plainly.
“I don’t want to. I’m not feeling well lately.”
“The doctor who just left said you’re strong, though. The reason you’re not pregnant is because we haven’t done it enough. You have to take responsibility for tempting me first.”
He countered her protest with his own twisted logic. The doctor’s claim wasn’t about frequency but timing—despite the countless times they’d been together, they’d only done so on her fertile day once. That was the problem, the doctor said.
“How long do I have to take responsibility…?”
Sylvia stopped, dumbfounded, and gave a hollow laugh before asking. Lancart answered immediately.
“Until you’re pregnant.”
His shamelessness rivaled that of a monster. Sylvia briefly imagined the mysterious beast she’d inadvertently married, then shook off the thought.
Oblivious to her guess about his identity, Kuinan brazenly kept talking.
“The woman downstairs been nagging every day. Even with a broken arm, she still hasn’t snapped out of it and drags you out constantly, asking when you’ll get pregnant.”
He even spilled details he shouldn’t have known. His tone was odd, as if he secretly relished Rossa’s broken arm and described her actions with disdain.
It was almost as if he didn’t even consider Rossa his mother.
That was surprising considering her husband’s past. He had been dutiful and respectful to his mother, never refusing her requests—except one: demanding to share a bed with Sylvia.
“…How did you know that?”
“What does it matter? You better get pregnant fast so she doesn’t punish you. I’ll give you twelve rounds tonight, so put this on and spread your legs.”
Again, he handed her the blindfold’s long strap. Sylvia’s reluctance stemmed largely from this blindfold. Why did she have to cover her eyes? How ugly could her husband’s manhood really be?
She couldn’t understand why he wanted her to not see it.
“I don’t want to tonight.”
Pushing his hand away, Sylvia said firmly. His eyes immediately sharpened.
She couldn’t understand why she felt nervous yet thrilled when a grown man gave such a fierce look. His flashy appearance gave even the harshest expressions an uncanny charm.
Sylvia bit her lip and looked away.
“Alright. Eleven rounds.”
He offered to reduce the count by one again, but Sylvia stubbornly stared off at the distant wall. A third-party observer might have thought they were a happily affectionate couple.
The husband gazed at the wife with passionate eyes, while the wife blushed shyly, staring into the distance.
It would be too easy to misunderstand.
